I have been going to Cuchara for 42 yrs. I have stayed close to downtown Cuchara for convience to shops, resturants and bars. Also, there are alot of people that are friendly and can help you discover the many sights and activites in the area. People and shops are happy to tell you where to fish, hike, ski, etc., the local shops carry fishing equipment and licenses. We go alot in the winter, especially during Christmas and spring break. You can pick any of three ski areas; Monarch, Wolf Creek, and Toas to ski or board at, all within 2.5 hrs., and the most gorgeous scenery you'll see in Sothern Colorado and Northern New Mexico. There is plenty of cross country skiing in and around Cuchara, too. River's Edge Bed and Breakfast has been our favorite place to stay. We have stayed with Mike over 15 times.
