On our recent trip to Durango, we stayed at this lovely historic home in the residential area of Durango. It was just a few blocks from downtown, easily within walking distance of the train station, all of the restaurants and shops in town. Our room had a private bath (which we asked for when booking) and it also boasted a private balcony with a small table and chairs. The room was very clean and comfortable with all the necessities. The innkeeper, Heather, was more than willing to accomodate us for breakfast on the morning of our early departure on the Durango/Silverton train. She cooked hearty and generous breakfasts that consisted of eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast and juice each morning during our stay. She was extremely helpful in giving us information about local restaurants, loaning us the mile by mile guide to the train ride, and even allowing us to pay her by check when we returned home since we didn't realize that she does not take credit cards and we did not have our... more
