Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Customer beware! We booked 2 rooms months ago and received an email confirmation for our reservation. When we got there the office was closed with a sign that said they would be back later. There was a phone number so I called it. A guy answered phone and said they were at dinner and would be back in 2 hours! We insisted they come and check us in. He hung up but about 5 minutes later a lady roars into the driveway. She made a snide comment about “can’t a person eat dinner?” I said not when it’s 4 pm and you have customers checking in! Someone should be there! She looked us up and they booked us in their “sister motel”, Homestead Inn. We drove there and it was a DIVE! Old worn out dirty rooms they smelled terribly! We of course didn’t stay there and went to a Holiday Inn Express up the road that was very comfortable and clean! I would NEVER recommend this motel. TERRIBLE customer service and misleading. ☹️

Average motel with friendly and enthusiastic customer service staff. Room 11 is very dated and needs a reboot. It smelled like air freshener was used to mask cigarette smoke. It’s clean and quiet at night. The room is the smallest room and most basic experience in the US.

Day 7 of my 2 week independent motel trip - Two in a row for the one story motels that are really kept up nicely. Knotty pine walls, clean carpeting looks to be relatively new. Everything is really nice. Bed is comfortable. Internet is good. Shower looks to be a little small, but bathroom is clean and up to date.

Located in the heart of Granby which is only minutes to Winter Park ski area, Grand Lake and Rocky mountain National Park. This motel would be a perfect group base camp for winter or summer activities.

My wife and I have stayed at Trail Riders many times and absolutely love this place. This trip was a little different. We took our elderly neighbor and his son up with us. We called the owners Erik and Mikey and explained our trip. The boys at the motel were very excited to help make this a great trip. They told us the best places to fish and were very helpful with the whole planning of the trip. As far as the rooms they are always meticulously maintained and clean. We love love this place! THANKS AGAIN!!!! Preston and Ciara

We stayed in the Trail Rider Motel for two nights over Labor Day weekend. We were in room 11 and our room was very clean. It was very dated...but clean. It had EVERYTHING we needed. It had night stands on each side of the bed, microwave, mini frig, a great desk area to sit at, and a charming little eating nook. The bathroom was on the small side and so was the room, but it was great for our two nights stay. Most of the time we were out and about doing things and not hanging out in the room. The hotel was booked for both of our nights and we did not have any issues with other guests or noise. They do not have a/c and we did run a fan in our window...so that toned down any outside noise as well. Parking was very convenient...right at your door. The owners were very responsive to any of our needs. It was within walking distance of several restaurants and shoppes.

First, I'd like to say that one of the owners, Erik - is MORE than accommodating, even though he had a broken leg and was hobbling around. He was cordial, friendly and pleasant each time we spoke to him. He responded to our request for extra pillows and even delivered them to our room. We didn't get to meet the other owner - Mike. We arrived during a heatwave and were unaware that the room had no A/C. (We were in Room 11) I guess we assumed that the room would have A/C given the room rate. Our error - we should have asked when we made our reservations. Erik was kind enough to provide a brand new portable fan for us as well. The rooms are older but impeccably clean, except for the shower curtain which had a brown ring around the bottom of it. (Easily removed with Spray 'n Wash and a run through the washing machine.) The toilet ran all night, so we had to remove the tank lid to re-seat the flapper each time we flushed., again, an easy fix. But, there are quite a few positives as well. The lodge offers a microwave and fridge, single cup coffee maker & coffee, wi fi, flat screen TV, a small booth like table/bench in the room, outdoor picnic tables, window fan and paper towels ! There is also a paved parking lot and parking right outside your door - a bonus for motorcycle riders like ourselves. I did have a concern about some of the other guests who appeared to be workmen or maybe drifters. They roamed the parking lot until later in the evening and one even decided to relieve himself out behind the free standing building on site - until his cohort reminded him that he had indoor plumbing and should probably use it. On our second day, a drug addled girl approached my husband asking him if he "wanted to have some fun". I guess I just didn't expect that in Granby, CO. Again - my naivete. In spite of the owner's best efforts and the charming, quaint appearance of this motel, I don't think I will stay here again. Others may not be as sensitive as I.

Wife and I took Amtrak from Sacramento to Granby for a get-a-way. Our stay far exceeded our expectations. Our two bed rooms was very spacious and cozy. Room was spotless and had a microwave, refrigeratior, good size table, huge t.v. screen. Owners Errik and Mike were always extremely friendly and always helpful with suggestions of things to do. We stayed for one week and we would of loved to stay longer. Granby is a very friendly community. We will definately be back.

The manager on duty was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are adequate and very clean. Location is within walking distance of places to eat. Beds were great! This is a small town but people are very friendly. We have been through there before and did not have reservations and there was no place to stay. Keep that in mind if you plan on visiting Rocky Mountain National Park.
