My wife and I stayed three nights/four days at the Lodge at Lionshead. I know Vail pretty well from the 80's and 90's when I lived in Denver, and the Lionshead area has certainly gone upscale if you haven't been there lately. We've first found the Lodge during an early season ski vacation and have since returned there in the summer as well. It is a beautiful facility with upscale rooms, is in a beautiful setting with a walk path and small creek flowing through a grove of trees just behind the property.
