The owner, Marty, is a breath of fresh air. She is a wonderful, kind and caring person who truly cares about the people that stay with her. She saw to it that my group had the most enjoyable experience possible. She made sure me and my group were well cared for and never went without. The rooms are big and... more

My colleagues and I travel a lot in our line of work and often live in hotels more than our own homes. The La Plaza Inn has been a very inviting and comfortable place for us to call home for several months. Marty, the hotel owner, is always very pleasant and accommodating of all of our needs. There is a... more

This hotel is a must for those who must stay long term or short term in a town. Our group has had wonderful accommodations. The hotel is more like a home than a hotel. I will stay here anytime I need to stay in Walsenburg. We have a kitchenette, a library, magazines, TV, internet, and other wonderful accomodations. Very nice.... more

If your idea of a romantic inn is astro-turf on the stairs, bare lightbulbs in the bathroom, trash in the closet, grungy windows that won't open, faded bed linens, noisy trains, a restaurant that smells strongly of grease, and an owner who gets defensive when you point these things out to her, then this is the place for you. How... more

Hostess/owner Martie (never saw her) called my cell and left keys and instructions the night of our late arrival. Bare light bulbs and grey indoor/outdoor carpeting greeted us in this musty old hotel that had potential. The room and the bed should not be rented until the rotted outer wall and window frames and the rotting, about-to-fall-on-your-head ceiling in the... more

We wanted a nice place to stay in the Walsenburg vicinity for one night and as usual, we checked Trip Advisor. The La Plaza Inn was rated #1, all reviews sounded good, and we called and got a good rate. When we got to the hotel, a very nice person, Marty, met us and checked us in. As most reviews... more

Marty, the host, is great. She stayed late since we were running late. I loved getting up in the morning and finding a note on the coffee maker to just add the water and the coffee will come out. It was fresh and no one was bothering me over breakfast. I like B&Bs but I don't like to be talked... more

My family stayed in a suite at La Plaza Inn. The owner is friendly and accommodating. The lobby is large and friendly. The suite was pleasant and clean. Continental breakfast was available even for an early riser, and fresh apple fritters were made just for us. The trains are close by, so if you're not used to them they may... more

One night we made a spur-of-the-moment decision to visit the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Southern Colorado. Walsenburg is right on the way, and we were relieved to find that La Plaza Inn had a room. 3 hours later, at 10pm, Martie cheerfully greeted us, and we had a comfortable night. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying... more

It was late and felt that we had to get off the Interstate. The owner, Martie, was very gracious and happy to have our business. She even gave us a winter price break on the room. Having to get up at 3 a.m. to answer the front door and it being Thanksgiving morning. Martie was all smiles with everyone, even... more
