Room stayed in was #1. At the last minute they changed it to #1 after our reservation for room #8 was given to someone else. Room #1 is located above the abandoned restaurant on the premises. For $120 a night we got the following. An old wooden floor that sloped from all sides towards the middle. There were wooden planks... more

Tollgate Hill Inn was wonderful. In June 2009 we stayed one night and enjoyed it so very much, we made reservations for another time in 2009. Staff is welcoming, efficient and extremely helpful. more

My husband and I recently experienced the beautiful Tollgate Hill Inn. Our stay was exactly what we were looking for, peace and quiet! The grounds were lush with beautiful wildflowers, they were so pleasant to stroll through. The room was cozy and clean. And the staff was friendly accommodating all our needs, especially for directions and recommendations on activities in... more

Like the other recent reviewer, this is the first time I have ever been motivated to write a review. We live in NYC and have a second home local to the restaurant. I have often passed it, and it seemed charming enough, so I made reservations there for Mother's Day lunch. Despite the fact that the place was mostly empty,... more

This quintessential New England B&B is the best value in the greater Litchfield area. The rooms are spacious, with matching textiles, have a very homey feel and many have fireplaces. The free breakfast includes all the basic essentials, with many home baked goodies. My family always looks forward to an outstanding meal at the Inn's restaurant, which also has a... more

I was wary when I made my reservation last week since I had a mixed experience during my February/2008 stay. On that visit my spouse and I enjoyed a fine meal by the fire during the evening but woke to no hot water in our bathroom! I had an 8am appt in town so we called the "front desk" hoping... more

During my brief one night stay I had a very pleasant experience at the inn. The most outstanding attribute of the place was my ability to have an experienced 2 hour massage on-site in my room! The convenience and the expertise were both greatly appreciated. Staff were accommodating and helpful throughout my booking process as I tend to have many... more

We only stayed one night, but that was enough. Leaning down to tie my shoelaces, I saw under the bed, and to my distress there were two piles of dog excrement there, dusty and moldy, and on a white carpet - very hard to miss if the room had been cleaned properly. When I brought up this issue with the... more

We spend a relaxed two nights at the Tollgate Hill Inn. Since we were traveling with our two pugs, we stayed in the dog-friendly old schoolhouse building. It was classic New England! Wide plank boards, interesting nooks (and interesting books!), a fireplace and even a bar in our suite. The property is just lovely... large trees, plenty of summer flowers... more

Quiet, cozy getaway on beautiful property. Is close to everything a couple of gal pals could want.... parks to hike, shops to browse, great eats and quaint villages. We rented bikes nearby, took a drive up to Great Barrington and enjoyed to spiritual energy of the Lourdes Shrine and Wisdom House. Our accommodations were roomy and comfy with a fab... more
