Do not stay at the Colony! From the moment I checked in the staff at the Colony treated me poorly. Upon arriving the late night desk clerk was engaged in a personal cell phone call of an apparently sexual nature and did not hang up or cut short his conversation when I walked up to the desk. My disappointment continued... more

The Colony is my first choice in the admittedly weak field of hotels in New Haven. We go to a Yale event every year in winter, so being very close to the school is vital. The Colony is a known quantity. Not a destination hotel in any way,but the staff has always been friendly. Many of the rooms have nice... more

We stayed at the Colony for Yale Parent's Weekend and were quite happy with everything. There was a good size room, with a large cable tv and good ac. The staff was very attentive and the beds were very comfortable. The complementary breakfast served in a lovely breakfast area made a pleasant start to every morning. We will definitely go... more

Upon arriving, a very bad attitude women was "waiting" on the previous person who was just there to check in and ask simple directions to a local address. A copied map was unceremoniously shoved to this poor women's face with a rambling, 'you are a pain in my (---) overview of breakfast, etc. available at the establishment. When my turn... more

My husband and I recently stayed at The Colony for 4 nights. The location of the hotel is great. It's within short walking distance to Yale, numerous restaurants, and museums. Although we enjoyed the location, the hotel left much to be desired. The parking ramp located beneath the hotel is very cramped. We were in a rental car and another... more

The Hotel allowed SIX twenty-ish girls to stay in ONE room (the room next to ours). The girls were very loud when they left their room around 11 p.m. When they returned around 3 am they were extremely loud, waking us up. I called the front desk, but the Hotel did nothing. When we checked out the woman at the... more

By far the worst bed I have ever slept in. Both beds sunk in the middle. Unfriendly people at the desk, sure didn't want to help with anything. Bathroom ugly and brown water came out of the shower. Definitely never again here. more

Our family was touring the Yale University campus last month and spent one night in the Colony New Haven. I selected the Colony because of its close proximity to the campus, but we paid a premium for that convenience. Although the decor is somewhat tired (tiny, musty bathrooms and loads of 1980's decor), it was significantly more expensive than other... more

... for the money, and centrally located to see the sights. I would stay here again should I ever be passing through New Haven again, unless I could afford to stay at the Omni. The only irritant for me was the lack of a mini bar (more for sweet treats post-flight than booze). more

My son and I stayed here overnight while visiting colleges. The hotel is nicely located next to the Yale campus and within east walking distance of many nice resturants and downtown activities. The inside of the hotel is a bit dated and could use some sprucing up, but if you are only staying for a short visit, the accomodations are... more
