It's places like the Barton House that give all small inns / B&B's a bad name. Now I understand why some first timers of the B&B experience come back disatisfied and adamant that they would never do a B&B again.
We have been to many B&B's - the super expensive B&B's, the mid-priced, and low-priced ones. Different experience each time, but never have we had such a rude and inadequte innkeeper. Ignorant, pompous and condescending, Rachel is totally in the wrong business. She was probably better off not forcing herself into conversation she obviously didn't want to be in. We might have then been able to look pass the layers of dust on the faux flowers in the room, or the smell of the bed linens (as if they had not been properly washed - if at all - ok, one can't look pass that...), or the how the wicker chairs on the porch were all missing cushions, or the tall metal container that remained tipped over on the floor - half under the one of the wicker...
