My daughter was moving to Norwalk CT. for her first job after college and I wanted to stay someplace special that had all the charm of new England rolled all up into one place. She loves those kinds of places rich in history so I didn't tell her where we were staying. What a beautiful setting nestled away down a... more

My wife and I checked into the tavern around 6:00pm. The clerk at the desk could barely be bothered to look up from the computer and assist us. The room was nothing more then what was advertised. Little, but charming with no phone or television. The bed how ever was slack on both sides and caused us to slide towards... more

Spent one night in this hotel that claims to be over 100 years old, and the musty odor bears that out. The bathroom fixtures were old and rusted, This place thinks ratty and worn-out qualify as "atmospheric." And to make matters worse, the price was outrageously high. You can do much better in this area. STAY AWAY!! more

This inn was falling apart around us - at check in - pieces of the ceiling was falling in. The light switch fell out of the wall in the room. We couldn't regular the temp and were too hot. The room smelled like a barn. The maid refused to give clean towels. AND the brunch - for $22.95 - could... more

On February 17, 2007 I stayed at the Silvermine Tavern in Norwalk, CT. One of the reasons that I selected the Silvermine Tavern is that it has a three-day cancellation policy. Many inns and bed-and-breakfast accommodations have a two-week cancellation policy—if you cancel in less than two weeks before your arrival date and they cannot fill that room, you are... more

We wanted something that wasn't a cookie cutter chain hotel, and that was what we definitely found at the Silvermine Tavern. The pluses: lovely location, very nice staff, excellent food in the dining room and quaint rooms with lots of charm. We had a great dinner (although I think that the honey buns that they keep raving about on their... more

Stayed here on the spur of the moment after I decided I could not take another night at a Holiday Inn. I got exactly what I expected; an old inn with old furniture that has a lot of charm and dents and scrapes. My dinner was great and the atmosphere very relaxing. No tv no phone, very quiet, comfortable bed,... more

I recently stayed on a Sat night package deal that included dinner for two and brunch for two for $275. You could order anything on the menu including all the courses which I thought was a good deal. The soup, salad, appetizer and dessert was very good, but I thought the steak was just average. We had a table close to... more

Have stayed at Silvermine Inn numbers of times. The main Inn (annex is across the street) is a late 18th century building - with large sittings rooms and restaurant on the main floor, sleeping rooms on the second floor The furnishings and accessories are 'mixed,' antque and old - and evoke traditional homes, as well as inns, of New England,... more

if it weren't for the view on the deck, this place would bomb big time....The service is irratic, the place is dusty and depressing, like your waspy girlfirend's grandmas house where everthing creaks and has stopped breathing.... The food is mediocre and the place is in need of serious restoration....What would be really great is to remake it as a... more
