My husband and I usually take a mini-vacation without our 3 little girls in the late Fall/Early Winter and had decided to fly into Ft. Lauderdale and drive down to Big Pine Key to stay at the Barnacle for 4 days. It was about a 3 hour drive to Big Pine from Ft. Lauderdale but it was a very scenic... more

The place is tired and worn...handles on the bathroom sink, to turn on the water would have been a nice touch, as would enough light to actually see something..... ice would be nice, if you want some get in your car and go buy some. met some nice people there, all of which were as disatisified as we were other... more

As mentioned earlier, the place is not for everybody. It has it's quirks and is a we have a natural beach. The bnb lends itself to a more laid back type of person and either love it or not. Stayed six days and never complained once or would have given refund. Handles on sink works fine if you ask how...

flew into Ft Lauderdale and drove down, stayed 5 nights at the Barnicle b&b on Big Pine Key, would not recommend either, having never been to the Keys before, did a lot of exploring, left there early, there are a lot better areas to stay...the rotting sea weed laying at the waters edge smells like sewage, if you're into sewage you will... more

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. First off, the seaweed blew away with Ida and we understand some people are not into the natural enivornment and prefer other Keys. Big Pine Key and The Barnacle is not flashy or a wine and dine kind of place but if if you are into relaxing, kayaking or just chilling out then you...

We loved it and the location is great to stay in Big Pine, (no name bar was so much fun and great pizza.) We also went to Marathan, Bahia Honda and snorkeling near-by. Jason and Debbie were outstanding hosts, and I had one of the best Eggs Benedict for breakfast, cooked by Debbie. As everybody says, they are a real... more

This place is unique and eccentric yet very cozy. The ocean views are unbelievable. The rooms clean and comfortable. Breakfast is delicious. The snorkeling/lobstering trips full of fun. The deer are magical, they come right up to you, lick your hands and even let you pet them!! Watching the stars at night from the roof of the Barnacle was the... more

The architecture of this B & B lends itself to the tropics as guests can sit outside overlooking the water during breakfast and/or have the hosts prepare and serve your 'catch of the day' on the beach under the stars. The host is a licensed charter captain and the First Mate is the chief cook, bottle washer and room keeper.... more

We can't thank Debi and Jason enough for the best trip to the keys we've ever had. We are so lucky to have found The Barnacle and can't wait to return with friends. Between the uniqueness of the place and the wonderful hospitality you just can't get any better than this. I wanted to touch on the complainers of the... more

On arrival we were pleased with the initial overview. The place is truly funky and very cool. Our room was the crow's nest. The room was small but adequate. The shower was cut by one of the roof lines and showering looking out at the ocean was great. The bugs are a problem and could have been helped by a... more

In response to the review, many guests to the Florida Keys are not aware of the natural habitat of the region, Seaweed is not only part of the area but beneficial to the animals that live here. Key Deer, nesting turtles, Osprey and many, many more animals depend on us not to destroy their homes.....

From the moment we arrived at 11 pm on a Saturday night it seemed as if JT and Debbie were psychic...a spontaneous decision led us here and it was like "Kismet", we were very blessed to find this place and have "dubbed" it "our getaway" - from the bocce on the beach to my morning coffee awaiting me on the... more
