I have been going to the Pelicann in for 3 years now. I love it! It is not the Holiday Inn but it has all you need and let me tell you that you dont need much in a place like that. The rooms are confortable and clean. Youu have bathroom, AC, Kitchen, bed, ceiling fans and the most beautiful... More

When my soul longs for the beach, I always find myself e-mailing or calling the owner to spend a few days at The Pelican Inn. It has for us (for at least 12 years) everything that we need for a peaceful rest and cooking some good seafood, but if you need your ego stroked by some fancy place with a... More

IMPORTANT NOTE: The Pelican self-selects its guests. It is either for you, or will carry a big eww for you. Built in 1960, this eight-room motel (four kitchettes on each of two floors) once had a dune buffer, but over the years the beach is closing in on her,so that the place is perched just about the high tide line.... It was great having three generations of this family at the Pelican Inn last week., and I'm delighted that they had a good time. As the reviewer noted, island life has its moments, such as when the washer goes down and it's a holiday weekend. Fortunately, the washer is fixed, the dryer is new to the inn, and the refrigerators... More

I know I wrote a review right after I stayed here, but after I read the reviews where people were putting the Pelican Inn down, I just had to make things right ! My 2 grown daughters & I stayed here back in 2010 or 2011. We stayed 2 nights & were wishing we had made plans to stay at... More

We have lived in Florida all our lives and have traveled and stayed in many places along both the Atlantic and the Gulf. But this by far was the most relaxing vacation. We were lucky because we had the Pelican Inn all to ourselves. My husband fished off the deck at high tide. All you hear are the waves 24/7.... More

I have read the reviews of others and found them all lacking. The Pelican Inn is the only place of of its kind along all the Gulf of Mexico OR along the entire Atlantic Seaboard. It is an old frame hotel of the kind which old people remember but which the Yuppies of today scorn because they have been so... More

My family and I have been staying at the Pelican Inn every spring for 15 years, and will continue to go there until it does wash away into the sea. In talking with the locals, the woman who called it a deathtrap asked for a discount because her daughter saw a spider, decided the discount wasn't enough and threatened the... More

The best vacation I have ever had! I have stayed here twice and just made reservations for this year. I stayed there last year after school had started back and it was almost like having my own private island. I stayed seven days and saw noone three of the seven. The beach is awesome. While walking the beach I saw... More

I rated it avg. because the Inn does need some TLC. (Tender loving care) It was built in 1959 so after many hurricanes and storms, yes it needs money to be put into it. We stayed 2 nights and got in some relaxing time and fun fishing. My son hooked into something during the evening when it was dark and... More

My wife and I spent four nights at the Pelican Inn on Dog Island, and we've never had a better vacation. As other reviewers have noted, the island is remote and you can walk the beach for miles without seeing anyone else. I jogged for four miles along the shore one morning and only saw two people, and they were... More
