We spent a fabulous three day weekend at the Island Hotel. We stepped in the door and were greeted by the friendly staff. We had booked at the last minute but were given a room upgrade when we checked in. It took a minute because they do things the old fashioned way... with a register, pen and white-out. Andy showed... more

This hotel is very old, and we were aware of that when we made reservations. However, the hotel is very OVERATED, AND VERY EXPENSIVE. The food in the dining area was wonderful!!! BUT........very EXPENSIVE for what you recieved, and left still hungry. We are not overeaters. The rooms were clean, but the floors were very worn. The veranda on the... more

We were sitting outside, having dinner when a lady who was bringing out setups for other tables said over her shoulder "we're having a birthday party and there will be lots of people coming". She didn't introduce herself and the intent of her message to us was "hurry up and eat so we can have your table". We told her... more

We came to Cedar Key with a group of 55 friends for a three day stay. We always get our friends NOT to go to the same restaurant at the same time...so as not to overwhelm them. We went to the Island Hotel the first night with 8 persons. We had called Wednesday before we got there on Thursday to... more

A disaster-worst hotel of the decade-Our room had threadbare linens with a torn and worn bed skirt. hanging down The bath had a child's size toilet jammed against the wall and the sink was dripping into a hole in the floor. Because they have a 24 hour cancellation policy, they charged us for the room even though we left without... more

Tried this place 5 years ago and swore I'd never go back. When I couldn't get a room at our favorite hotel (Park Place) where we stay 1 or 2 times a year, decided to try this dump again. Big mistake. Expensive, rude, lousy food. I'll drive back to Gainesville before I stay there again if I can't get a... more

I entered the hotel with a guide dog in training, was greeted by a guest who thanked me for what I do, as her visually impaired husband was beginning training with a guide in about a month. As we walked to the desk to inquire about a room, we were told, in a very nasty way, that pets were not... more

My family and I had a lovely stay in two of the hotels bedrooms. The rooms were very charming, spacious and clean. I am a stickler for cleanliness and although I must agree with previous reports about the bathrooms it did not in any way spoil our stay. The hotel has lots of character as does the town. Everyone that... more

We wanted to stay in a "haunted" B&B, so we booked a room at the Island Hotel. They gave us #23, which we stayed in for 2 nights. Yes, there is something to this paranormal stuff, because we had definite activity, especially after dark! Nothing evil or malicious, just playful, and curious. Both nights, we heard my necklace being placed... more

My husband and I stayed at the Island Hotel for two nights recently. Here's the good, the bad and the ugly. Good: Best french toast this FT enthusiast has ever enjoyed. Very friendly staff. Great, central location for exploring the small town. Nice decor with two comfy lobbies and a nice balcony for reading and relaxing. The bad: Because the... more
