Cedar Key and the Faraway Inn are a unique experience. If you are looking for the Florida of over-crowded, white sand beaches and neon, this is not the place for you. But if you are looking for a relaxing, welcoming little family-run place that will embrace you and make you feel like you are home, this is the place to be.... more

I took my Mother for her birthday, along with two siblings, to celebrate her 82nd birthday, on our return trip from Tampa, two years ago. She LOVED the place, as did we. (My husband and I had been a couple times before, and loved it.) You CANNOT be looking for the in-the-box, anywhere USA trip and enjoy this. That's what... more

We enjoyed the Faraway again this year as we always do. We stayed at three other hotels in Cedar Key and when we found the faraway 5 years ago we have been back every year. It is so nice to find a piece of "old Florida" still around. The courtyard is very nice and we love to watch the sunset... more

We have stayed in Cedar Key ten times. The first three were at three different hotels. On our fourth visit we found the Faraway Inn and have gone back every year since then. We really enjoy how quaint the place is. It is something that reminds me of "old Florida" which you can rarely find now days. The owners were... more

Twice I have stayed at the Faraway Inn with a group. Both times the floors were absolutely filthy. I chalked the first one up to housekeeping having made a mistake and not having mopped the floors. The second time was just like the first. If you did not wear socks, just walking barefoot on the tiled floors made it appear... more

Cedar Key is great, quaint town located west of Gainsville. We wanted to stay at a place that was not too much, pet friendly and had a kitchen. After asking Oliver and his wife, the owners, if they thought they could accomodate us, they explained that they had efficiencies, rooms, bungalos and cabins. They told us what each had to... more

I had to vacate my home in Florida while the house was being tented for termites. I rented one of the hotel rooms at the Faraway Inn, it was so small I had to turn sideways to get between the side of the bed and into the bathroom. The room had dishes for housekeeping, unfortunately, they took up about half... more

Our sincerest apology that your experience at our Inn impacted you so negatively that 16 months later you wrote this review on Trip Advisor. During the past 16 months we have made many changes, most importantly new staff. It had come to our attention that our 5+ year Office Manager was not following the standards and hospitality in which my...

My Husband and I went there for one day to eat seafood and have a place for our pets to go with us. When we arrived in our room was spotless and on the bed were 2 towels and 2 scarfs and 2 doggie treats for our babies. This place is right on the gulf and your dogs can go... more

We visited Cedar Key to spend the day and decided to stay for one nite before returning ho me to Tennessee. We had such a great time we decided to stay another night and wished we had the time to stay longer. The Faraway Inn was a lovely place. The room was very clean and cozy. We really appreciated the... more
