We met Terry, the owner, as we walked in the courtyard. The courtyard was very well maintained. He is a great find! He is polite and very welcoming. The room was very large and comfortable. We had all the usual furniture plus a frig, microwave, coffee pot, separate "kitchenette" area, and desk with wireless internet. Terry cooks a breakfast casserole... more

We had a good time here. Lauderdale is a little sleepy unles you are smack in the middle of a restaurant or busy bar. The resorts tend to reflect this, as they are quiet and fairly unassuming. That said, Villa Venice is a nice stop with comfortable rooms, and staff is attentive in keeping the rooms stocked with towels and... more

Villa Venice is the fourth guesthouse I've tried in Fort Lauderdale, and I was quite pleased. I booked last minute and got a good rate for the weekend. The grounds, pool, hot tub and room were all immaculately clean. I had a spacious room on the 3rd floor corner, which was attractively decorated (a little too bright for my personal... more

I agree with the other reviews, that the web site description and the pictures do oversell this place. With that said, it's very clean, staff is friendly, rooms comfortable, pool and spa very clean. We have stayed at guest houses in Lauderdale that are much nicer, but also at a much higher price. We felt that this was good value... more

A small boutique hotel, which was apparently built in the 50's, but has obviously benefited from a considerable investment in remodeling and redecorating. The hotel's website takes some liberties in its description, but is not inaccurate. Checkin was smooth and easy (avoid a late checkin if you can) and the room was clean and comfortable. The houseboys are thorough and... more

My partner and I recently made our first visit to Fort Lauderdale. We stayed at the Villa Venice and absolutely loved it. We were warmly greeted when we arrived and shown to our room. We stayed in #35. It was terrific. The room was very large with a nice shower and a small kitchenette. It would be great for a... more

I was really quite disappointed in this place, mostly due to the 'glowing' reviews I read here. "The only place to stay in Fort Lauderdale"???? I don't think so. There's nothing inherently wrong here except the pool is in shade most of the day, the breakfast is adequate to be kind, the crowd when I was there was decidedly older... more

We stayed at the Villa Venice for one week. It was a very nice place. The room was large, private, well-kept and affordable. We liked that we had a kitchenette and private patio. There were a lot of friendly guys staying at the resort while we were there and we made friends with a few of them. Terry and his... more

Compared to other gay boutique hotels we've stayed in, The Villa Venice is truly a cut above. Our room was immaculate and beautifully appointed. It was more like staying with friends as apposed to staying in a hotel. We liked the close availability to the beach and the quick car trip to excellent restaurants and entertainment. The pool and patio... more

There's nothing significantly wrong with Villa Venice. It just left me a little disappointed vs the cleverly-written and photographed website. Althought nicely refurbished, underneath it's still basically an ordinary 1960 L-shaped 3-storey motel with exterior walkways wrapped around a courtyard (pool and hot tub) which backs onto a side street a couple of blocks away from the main road at... more
