The lady at the front desk was extremely rude. The rooms were filthy. Bedding obviously wasn't cleaned. There was a toenail in the bed. Something scurried across the floor at night. Upon checking into our room they assigned us a room that hadn't been cleaned (and we could only assume was still occupied by someone). We found dirty underwear and used condoms on the floor. Eventually they were able to get us into another room however the next day we didn't find any clean linens when we returned to our room.... more

The Newberry Inn Gainesville is disgusting. Dirty towels were left in room from previous guests. Carpet and bedspreads were dingy and the room smelled of nicotine even though it was a non smoking room. Toilet bowl had black mold growing. No remote for the TV. I never post on review sites, but I just have to let others know what their in for when they consider the Newberry. Most of the team for the girls softball tournament stayed here because of the great rate ($49). Our family didn't expect a 5 star hotel, so we went in with little expectations. We were on our way to Tampa and stayed here on the way down. They had some really good deals (49 a night I think). It was just a typical roadside motel. I woke up itching the next morning from the beds (I assume). It's easy to get to from the highway and cheap. Nothing to write home about though.... more

This place needs to be bulldozed. I think they are trying to turn it into a "luxury condo" place. They need to shut down the "Newberry Inn" and just focus on the condos. The room we got was gross. Looks like it hasn't been freshened up in about 30 years. Also, seems to be a hangout for local deviants. AVOID. more

We had read the reviews and thought "how bad can it be?" Believe us - it is that bad. The lobby and the pictures on the website are very misleading.
