We booked this place in late March 2013 as a bed and breakfast (also advertised on the place's website). We arrived to find a tiny, 4 room place near a small marina and amongst trailer homes. The sparkling pool is a tiny above ground pool that would only fit a handful of people. The beach is about the size of... More

Staying at the Tarpon flats is interesting as you are off the main drag and its more of an insite into real key living as you are basically in a residential area. The hotel is great in it has a pool and is bay side with kayaks ready to use. The room is large and in decent condition if a... More

We loved this place. Arrived to find a manatee in the dock just outside our front door and it just got better!! Peaceful, tranquil, beautiful...what more could you ask for? The beach area was perfect. We sat and watched the sun come up and go down out there overlooking Largo Sound. The people who live round about on boats were... More

Not a hotel or your standard motel. More like bed and breakfast but without breakfast. Booked through Expedia which includes continental breakfast but was told by owner Gilda that this is not correct and for us to call Expedia ourselves. Quite disappointing as it doesn't take much to put on a simple continental breakfast, even if it is some cereal... More

We used Tarpon as a stopover on our way to the Everglades. We soon wished we were staying for longer. The setting is beautiful and Rose showed us to our second floor room with an amazing view across the sound. She gave us a quick tour showing us the bikes and kayaks and left us to enjoy the surroundings. We... More

Tarpon Flats is right on the water (OK, a canal) and you can tie up your boat right at their dock (or drive in, as most do!). The rooms are spacious and clean, complete with kitchenettes and private baths. Our room, on the second floor, had a great view of the water, the docks, and the small swimming pool (not... More

We stayed at Tarpon Flats Inn for three nights. I wish we would stay longer and the weather was warmer. Its a very welcoming place, tranquil and well kept. Their small sandy beach is great place to sunbath. They offer free kayaks which we used to paddle to the John Pennekamp state park just a short paddle across the bay... More

Like other recent reviewers we appreciated what this low-key inn offered: very friendly service, quiet waterfront, and good value. Nothing fancy but just fine for these two frequent travelers who prefer small out of the beaten path places. Liked the kayaks there for the taking and Rose's recommendations on where to go. Spent five heavenly hours paddling through the mangroves... More

The location along the canal was charming, room size, value and cleanliness were fantastic, but the bedding and furnishings have seen better days. Bathtub had lots of missing paint, ice maker was not functional, some small updates would go a long way. So if you are looking for a Westin, this may not be the place for you. But if... More

We spent two nights mid-January at the Tarpon Flats. We chose Tarpon based on TripAdvisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The room was ample and most everything worked. It's not fancy and arguably, some updating is necessary. Individual category ratings are not particularly high. Why the high overall rating? It is Good Funky. Laid back, a relief from battling bellboys... More
