I was prompted to write my review not only becasue of how nice our stay was, but because of the slanderous review I saw on here. I logged on to forward a buddy of mine the info on this place and saw the Trip Advisor link on Google. The Sombrero Reef Inn is a comfortable, quiet, and friendly place to... more

There are many reasons why the Sombrero Reef Inn has a no refund, no exceptions policy. Without that disincentive, many would leave shortly after arrival. So consider these facts BEFORE you pre-pay a non-refundable deposit to book a room for your vacation here… We recently returned from the Keys where we had prepaid a three-night booking at the Sombrero Reef... more

Nice enough place, rooms were very clean. Did not see the owners except at check in. The one really negative thing was that the walls of the condos are extremely thin and you can hear EVERYTHING going on in the adjacent condos. We stayed in #18 & you could hear when someone cleared their throat and every word they said.... more

Carolyn was great to meet, treats you as a friend you haven't seen in a while. Hibiscus blossom awaited in the room w/ our key. Our privacy was kept, clean towels every other day as well as restocked coffee. We rented 18A and soonas you walk in bathroom to right w/ step in shower. The bed was comfortable, the shades... more

I'll add to the positive reviews on the Sombrero Reef Inn. The owners, Carolyn and Matt are friendly and accomodating. They take a lot of pride in the cleanliness of the rooms and grounds. We stayed in 18A for one night and found the bed to be comfortable, the room cool, and the bathroom sparkling clean. The outdoor setting was... more

No surprises here. The great reviews say it all – you’re going to find this place to be relaxing and the inn keepers friendly. The bed is comfortable and even in the small room (#18A) we rented there is a refrigerator and I think I remember a microwave too as well as the usual coffee machine. It was quiet when... more

The comments I read about this place prior to booking are what made the decision. It was everything we expected, a quaint, small, old keys feel and the owners were great. We met Matt when we checked in and met Carolyn two days later when she brought us fresh towels. We rented 17A, a one-bedroom suite and everything was spotless,... more

The Inn is in a quiet residential area on an L-shaped canal that opens onto the ocean and is very close to the free and very nicely tended Sombrero Beach complex, which has several covered picnic areas on a boardwalk behind the beach. The Inn has a single building that can be rented separately as suites or bedrooms. We were... more

We had been looking for a place near the water - I meant the ocean/shore/beach and not an inland marina. Somehow there was a miscommunication. We needed to drive everywhere - a half mile to the beach, and to everything else. That was disappointing. That said, this place is very quiet (in the middle of a residential area), comfortable and... more

The Sombrero Reef Inn will appeal to those who value small and private over the busyness of a resort or ordinary hotel. If you need room service or a lot of ammenities like an on-site restaurant or a swimming pool...look somewhere else. There are only 4 units here - two suites and two motel type rooms. We booked one of... more
