We traveled to Sanibel Island for my 50th birthday and had a great time at this place, one of the very few places situated directly on the beach. The fact that it was built about 50 years ago somehow added to the charm. The place was neat, tidy and clean and having come from a fast paced city with little... more

We have stayed now at the Tropical Winds 5 times. It is not a luxury resort, very casual and understated. But the location is perfect. One of the best shelling locations and very low key. If you want room service and to be pampered, this is not the place for you. But if you want quiet and time to yourself... more

Great deal and a surprise upgrade just was fabulous! Its aways clean and its nowhere near other hotels----love to walk down to the beach and only see a handful of people. 2years ago I introduced my brother and his family to it and now they love it, too. Its a tradition. (they no longer stay at the congested south end... more

My family has been staying at Tropical Winds for nine years. Managers are always friendly and accommodating. Access to the beach is great. Facilities are well maintained and linen/maid service is top shelf. Amenities for cooking are good. Beds are comfortable. Beach chairs are available if you don't have your own. It almost our home away from home now and... more

First of all this wonderful little cottage is not fancy...but it is clean. Everything is provided for you, full kitchen etc. that you would need for a week-end or a week's stay. We stayed for five days and I wished we could of stayed longer. I think it is a treat to be able to bring your dog..our little dog... more

My husband and I were looking for a beachfront cottage that was also large dog friendly for a quick weekend trip to recharge. We found everything we were looking for at the Tropical Winds. We stayed in one of the cottages which were just a few hundred feet back from the waters edge. The cottages were extremely spacious and clean,... more

It is so important for me to be able to travel with my little Shih Tzu. I do not travel without her, and our friends travel with their dog, too. So, of course we can only go to "pet friendly" places. Often when I travel with my dog, I'm put into rooms that contained smokers- which is awful! But the... more

My mom and two sisters had a girls week end. The price was great. The owners were helpful. My mom has a problem walking, and they arranged a special beach wheel chair for her. They also notified us that the alley was closed and assisted us in finding another route home. They also directed us to the best eating establishments.... more

We truly enjoyed our stay at Tropical Winds. The cottage we stayed in (#2) was very clean and kept up. The kitchenette was stocked, although very basic, we had everything we needed. The management was very nice and hospitable. The beach being down further than we usually stay, was a nice stretch of seclusion which we loved. The location allowed... more

I did a lot of research on cottages and motels on the beaches of Sanibel Island before I booked our stay with Tropical Winds. This place had all the things I wanted before we even got there: right on the beach where we could see it & hear it from our windows, a kitchen so we could bring our own... more
