I had made a reservation and it turned out to be for the wrong day, and I missed my doctor's appointment. I now have to wait for another appointment and that could be months. I had to cancel my reservation. The manager or owner of Hyde Park Hotel called to ask why I cancelled since it was a non-refundable reservation. He was nice enough to refund my money and had at first offered me credit but I was so frustrated by the mishap, I couldn't plan for when I might be there! So he refunded. Nice guy. I will try to stay there when I get another appointment!

the location is generally great - near downtown, right off Howard and the food/drink scene, plenty of parking - the room was clean and the bathrooms are gorgeous - even a full little kitchen - reasonable price - but, here it comes, there is so much clunky old school security as to distract from the hotel - pass codes, weird key system with real keys, management alerting about security - we had no problem but the window air conditioner whirring loudly for the two days got very old

Hyde Park Hotel is your phenomenal. I stayed for about a week, and felt very welcome. I moved to Tampa from Illinois for work & business purposes as I am a chef, and a food service safety instructor & exam proctor. My job in Hyde Park is only about a 12 minute walk up Howard Ave. The rooms are fully renovated & cozy, but the beds are California king & very, very comfortable. This takes up some room space, and is very well worth it. Everything is clean, and the property is very quiet. Check-in was a breeze, and I was even able to get an early check-in. Jim, the property owner and manager, is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and available for guests. He explained a lot to me about the local housing market including letting me know when the busy season is in Tampa. Hyde Park Hotel is close to Bayshore Blvd. aka Billionaire’s Row, and several fine bars, shops, and restaurants. I highly recommend Hyde Park Hotel to all who read this. Thank you, Jim.

This was the most unsanitary place ever! It looks nothing like the pictures! Customer service was absolutely trash! When we kindly asked for a refund the owner Jim refused and told us we were seeing things!

I have stayed at this property on several occasions but on the first floor. I was very happy with my stay.,,, this visit my room was on the second floor obviously the first floor has been refurbished the second floor has not been!!!! Dirty sheets, dirty walls, dirty towels, online it stated furnished amenities in the kitchen we didn’t even have coffee cups to go along with the coffee maker to have coffee the following morning or wine glasses to have wine in the room before we went downtown and a very unsafe hairdryer that I was afraid to use to avoid being electrocuted!!! I love this location because it is away from the hustle bustle of downtown but a quick four or five dollar Uber ride to anywhere downtown!! Not sure I will be staying again I will pay the extra money for parking and hotel stay downtown

I'm sorry you had such a bad stay. We started using a hotel staffing company to provide the cleaning and they have been providing people that were not even as good as the people on Craig's list. We have replaced all fo the missing and broken hairdryers. As for the coffee cups, we only provide paper cups and plastic drinking cups, that are individually wrapped. We used to fully stock the kitchen, but the guests take or break everything faster then we can put it in. We have boxes with dishes, glasses cooking utensils, etc that we rent for $10, for people that are staying longer.

They tried to improve on the bad reviews somewhat. The bed was comfy. The water pressure was great. The stove and fridge were new. Customer service was severely lacking. Although the female clerk who worked nights was just lovely! You get what you pay for BUT waiting 2 hours for a toilet plunger was unacceptable. We were within seconds of a Winn Dixie. When I asked the maintenance man if I needed to go buy one myself he answered “I guess so!” The first room they gave us had no sheets on the bed. We had to ask for toilet paper, paper towels, a dish towel as well as the advertised hair dryer. We got one roll of TP for a 4 day stay and a wall hairdryer that sat on the floor (after asking twice). No paper towels until the next day (thank you night clerk!). The office is only open 3 - 10. Really? Anyway....we slept well! Don’t forget, there are no dressers or lamps!

I was concerned about staying here after reading all the reviews, but we needed a place to stay for the day only, before a late flight. Jim from the hotel contacted us to make sure we were still arriving that day and when I called back, Lisa said she would be there to let us in and pay. Lisa was Super nice and accommodating as our ride was a little late. The room was fine: acceptably clean, beds comfortable and it had a nice little kitchen with min. supplies. It looks like an effort is being made to update things over time. As others mentioned, if you want something fancy this hotel is not that. However it is very reasonably priced for the area, esp. with a small kitchen, and we really appreciated that they have a day use option, as these hotels are very hard to find!

Bed Bugs in our room. We too precautions, however they found our luggage. We took some home with us. Regret staying there. Should have gone elsewhere. Had early hospital appointment. Convenience was not worth it.

We do not have any bed bugs in the hotel. I have an exterminator that comes every month and no one has complained of being bitten but you. You mentioned you found bed bugs in your luggage, fortunately for us, they stayed in there, rather than jumping out and extending their stay with us. LOL

Room size was about what I expected for the price. Could use some updating, but wasn’t in too bad of shape. My main complaint was that the bedding in our room clearly had not been changed before our stay. There were make up marks and loose hairs all over the sheets. I had to use 2 lint roller sheets to get all the hair off them. The front desk hours are from 3-10 pm, so by the time we got back to the room for the night, and also the next morning when we left, there was no staff to complain to. So I waited until I got back home and I called travelocity to complain. The travelocity agent decided he wanted to connect me to the hotel so I could explain the issue to them. The hotel manager did not realize the I had been connected to the line and was in the middle of trash talking me. He was saying that we are the type of customers who eat a whole meal and then complain they want a refund afterwards. Not only is that extremely stupid and unprofessional, but also just not true! The room was cheap and I did not expect much, but I do expect clean sheets no matter where I stay! We would have complained directly to the hotel, but they had weird hours and were not there when we were! So the hotel manager finally said “Well what do you want me to do about it?!” I told him I would like at least a partial refund, which by this point I actually wanted all of my money back because I didn’t want to support a business who doesn’t appreciate their customers. He agreed to give half back. 1/10

If I recall the conversation, you stayed the night and then wanted a full refund, hence the analogy of the guy eating his meal then complaining and wanting it for free. There is a call box outside of the office as well as one next to the front door, so you can reach someone 24/7, as well as a number of the hotel on the front door, so I don't see why you could not have reached us. If you had contacted us, we wold have gladly changed rooms or the sheets for you. I have instructed the cleaning staff to use the large lent roller we provide them with, to get any hair off the sheets, that may have made it through the laundry. Obviously the accommodations were not that bad, or you would have left immediacy, so I think refunding 1/2 was more than fair. Jim

I checked in with Jim and Kia and they were great! They gave me a list of close by bars and clubs, and a quick review of each place. The room I stayed in was tight on space but super clean. There was a small kitchenette in the corner of the room and the beds were comfortable. Not a far uber ride from the cruise port and not far from the airport. Located right in the mix of the happenings but in the cut enough to give you some peace and quiet.
