My wife and I own and operate a B&B about two hours north of Bartow, Georgia, so this was a busman's holiday for us on the way to the Georgia coast. Intrigued by their website showing an 1860 Greek Revival manse similar to our own, we said, what the heck?
We were warmly greeted by Hubert and Patsy on a hot Monday afternoon. The house lived up to its pictures, with magnolias and big cedars draped with Spanish moss. We were offered an hors d'oeuvres plate and wine, and supplied with setups when we produced our traveling liquor locker.
It being Monday in small-town Georgia, none of the local eateries were open, so Patsy volunteered to make us supper at the inn, which was delicious. So was breakfast. In between, we swapped B&B stories late into the night. Our room was very nice, the bed was comfortable, and the whirlpool tub delightful.
