Due to an ice storm/power outtage in our area on 1/29/05, my husband and I decided to check into the local Microtel. When we called we asked 1) if they had power and 2) if they had a back up generator should the power go out. Both questions were answered with an assuring "yes". An our after we checked in the lights went out. We (along with 50 other guests in the hotel) went down to the lobby to see what was going on. We were told the hotel DID NOT have a generator and that they had no idea when the power would be back on. The manager FLAT OUT REFUSED to refund anyone's money and said all they could do was offer a credit for another night's stay. 90% of the people who were staying there were only there due to their being a power outage at their home. Many of the people did not have the money to go find another hotel. To make matters worse, they manager actually THREATENED some guests. Customer service at this hotel is non existant to say the least. DO NOT WASTE... more
