As have others, we found a virtually brand new facility at the Sea Gate Inn. The old buildings have been torn down and a new structure completed last fall; there will be a "sister" facility built across the street. This is now a brand new property so do not read the OLD reviews. It is just gorgeous and for the price you cannot beat it. It is so close to downtown St Simons and right across the street from the beach (200 yards). I would recommend anyone to stay here. We are going back and taking the entire family!!!!! more

Decided to mix business with @ short trip to the beach. This Inn is a small 3 story building with top end 1 bedroom suites. Brand new & highly luxurious. Directly across from beach & 1/2 mile to town. @ the rate I received a much better value than local hotels. more

THIS IS A BRAND NEW FACILITY. They tore down the old and put up the new. Please someone needs to remove all old reviews previous to April of 2008. According to the person who checked us in, that is when the completely new facility Sea Gate Inn was completed. The pictures on their web site do not do this facility... more

I'd like to begin by saying that any review prior to 2008 should be entirely disregarded. The Sea Gate Inn, or the "New" Sea Gate Inn has been completely renovated. I'm still stunned that this place received even okay reviews, let alone that anyone would ever return. Maybe there are a few decent rooms in there somewhere... but not the two we saw. We chose the Ocean House for a front-row seat on the Atlantic - it was a great view, but that's the only thing Sea Gate has going... more
