Though a visitor to the Sun Valley area for more than a decade, I had been hesitant to try the inn referred to by locals as "Snob Hill". On my most recent, trip, though, I decided to avoid the family-focused Sun Valley complex of hotels and condos and try the Knob Hill Inn. I was not disappointed! First, I found the staff friendly and helpful. No snobs here (not counting guests, I suppose). While the inn is directly off Highway 75 -- the main north-south route through insanely popular Ketchum, the inn has managed to create a seemingly isolated retreat. This is due in large part to delightful, gorgeously planted gardens. The rooms are wonderfully appointed and comfortable. I booked late and got the last available room -- usually a sign of trouble ahead but this room was very nice.
