First visit to Bluestone with family. Happy I got a decent deal for a weekend. Stayed in gateholm 3 bed which was very nice, clean and had everything you need. Bring extra toilet rolls and baking trays if intending to oven cook. Enjoyed the free activities such as pool, soft play, mooching around the serendome, park and lake. That kept us busy for a Friday to Monday. Enjoyed the fish n chips takeaway on site, expensive but was tasty unlike food in soft play cafe which was overpriced and not great. Buggies all booked out so none available but it was fine just walked everywhere. Did the celtic combo spa which was nice. Plenty of EV chargers in the carpark (podpoint). Went to centre parcs 3 weeks ago and this was just as nice for a third of the price. Looked at booking for Chrismas but maybe not at £1k odd. Enjoyable family break away.

This is very much in the vein of Center parks, absolutely excellent for children of all ages, the hive has lots of activity that caters for most children, the restaurants are very reasonable there is something on the menu for the majority, if you don’t want to stay on park there are lots of places to visit quite close to the park, Narbeth is a very nice little town lots of private shops a bit different and craft shops, and a very large Tesco if you need to stock up. We had a great time. Well worth checking out.

Overall a really lovely trip. We’ve been before as a couple and we can’t remember much of what we did because it’s a very family focused place. This time we took our baby who is 3 months old. We still didn’t have much for him to do specifically for his age but we enjoyed walking with him, the lights at night in the Serendome and splashing around in the pool. We don’t think we saw anyone there on this trip who didn’t have children with them. Pool- quite quirky compared to other pools with good slides, splash pools for kids and a mini river that goes outside. There are many family changing rooms, which is great, but it was difficult to find one where the floor was relatively clean and some even had nappies on the floor, which was pretty disgusting! I’m not sure how often these are cleaned. It’s good that those staying on site can seem to use the pool whenever we want without booking. Oak Tree- Italian restaurant in the village. Sadly this was really overpriced for what we had. My partner felt that the staff were constantly trying to speed us up on ordering, eating and paying. The Grill restaurant- had Sunday lunch here. It was absolutely stunning and we kept talking about it days later! Serendome- such a beautiful area with lovely touches! Some activities, plenty of food and drink areas, little theatre space. There’s a bear shop there where you can build your own bear. We were very excited to do this for our little one but it was very underwhelming when we went in, so we didn’t do it this time. We bought a mocha coffee in the Serendome which was £3.90!!! We nearly cried. Walks- lots of lovely walking areas and especially around the lake. Accommodation- we stayed in one of the cottages in the village. It was lovely. Very warm, cosy, comfy beds but ran out of toilet roll- they only gave 2 for 4 days! A nice touch is they gave us some daffodils as it was over St David’s day. Entertainment- the entertainment team were very good. On st David’s day, a guy called Will (who wore a daffodil on his head) was brilliant in the pub and improvised songs on request. Very funny!

- we love bluestone when we get a deal and we don’t have to go far so this may cloud the judgement when reviewing but.. - the Hive and Serendome are as good as ever although the loss of the shows is incredibly annoying as they were a big part of our stays. - new lodges are great but haven’t resolved the noise issue. Sounds like elephants are on the ceiling.. seems bizarre they didn’t make use of space to put a toilet upstairs either and seriously for the price we are paying I’m sure Bluestone can afford to provide more than one toilet roll. - as others have said it’s time to close down the pool for a refurb. It’s very scruffy and tired with flooring missing and tiles broken. My kids are young so couldn't care less however. - the Sunday roast is not to be missed, nicest food they sell. Takeaway is right on time and decent. - facilities even in term time are far busier than they ever have been presumably due to the new lodges. - it’s still a great holiday with the kids but it really needs some improvements

Fourth time I've been, and as the kids get older the less there is to do, especially when it's raining. It's in some stunning scenery if you like walking it's designed to empty your pockets and cream as much money as possible from you. The pool is looking old and tired, really needs a revamp They havn't added extra lodges but without and extra free facilities Teenagers just get bored very quickly.. Unless they are into nature, swimming and walking Food prices are on the high side but did look ok what was being served Really really needs a big injection of cash to update the place, provide more free things to do Still a beautiful relaxing environment Lodges are lovely, warm and clean. But they are equipped with the bare minimum of tolitries ect And nothing in the kitchen at all no tea, coffee, salt, pepper ect Remember to bring Everything if you intend on eating in And for some reason they only provide two tea towels Think it may be my last time here my youngest is ten and it wasn't for his friends he would be bored or of his mind

For anyone with young children, this place is a must. I was unsure what to expect based on the reviews, but knew friends who have been and loved it so we took the gamble and so happy we did. For anyone with young children who like being busy, outdoors and exploring, this is the place for you. I cannot think of many things which would improve our trip. Our accommodation was huge, well equipped, clean and comfy. The beds were really comfy and everything worked well - good power shower etc . Considering we visited during our Feb half term it didn’t feel busy at all. The car park wasn’t busy, checking in was easy, soft play was brilliant and had loads to do - the sofas an added bonus for parents. The pool was good, not amazing but certainly enough to keep little ones entertained for a couple of hours. The changing rooms were fine, not spotless but what changing rooms are?! Lots of family changing available. The serendome was brilliant. The water play, play area and sand area kept kids entertained for hours, especially when it was rainy. Food and drinks available which is great. We ordered takeaway and it was delivered hot and bang on time. The shows were good for young children - fake snow, bubbles and songs/dancing. Golf buggy was really useful but not essential - as others have said, take a towel or something to wipe it down if you’re expecting rain. Nice walks through the woods and round the lake, the play area and treehouses in the village are nice. The cafe was nice for a drink and cake. We didn’t eat at any of the restaurants so can’t comment on those, the takeaway from the ‘light bites’ was good. We only booked 1 activity and it was good - there’s not many options for younger children in the ‘bookable’ activities but so much other stuff going on it didn’t matter. A great family holiday, so pleased we booked and will definitely be returning.

We've just come back from a very wet half-term week at Bluestone. We had a lovely time but I suspect that was due to the fact we have a very easy-to-please 4 year old. Considering it's an outdoor activities centre I was worried as I knew her age would prevent us from doing most of the outdoors activities but, on a wet week, her age was perhaps our saving grace. Let me start with the positives. We went for one of the cheapest lodges and were given one situated in a lovely location by the edge of the forest. The lodge was clean, spacious, quiet and warm, so no issues there. Thankfully there were a few things to do under cover with small children. There's a small playground, sand and water play under the Serendome (although I was expecting them to be bigger I must admit) and a decent swimming pool that amused us all perfectly well. Soft play in The Hive was a little too tricky for her to climb and older kids on the bouncy castle made it slightly wild. After a bumped nose and lots of tears that was the end of The Hive for us. The winter lights walk was a lovely thing to do in the evening. Much to my surprise no-where seemed particularly packed considering it was a wet half-term week. We hired a golf buggy which was a blessing as it's a big place to get around but the buggy roof does little to prevent you from getting wet. Towels to wipe the seats and waterproof trousers are a must, especially if you sit in the back. Unless you're smart enough to take a tarpaulin to cover the seats with like some people, who had clearly been to Bluestone before, took with them. Food and the service was perhaps the biggest disappointment. The food was very overpriced for what was essentially pub food...captive audience I guess. Service also wasn't great. At Camp Smokey despite my partner going up to ask where our food was after a long wait only to be reassured it would just be 5 more minutes, it eventually transpired that they had lost a couple of orders. Barely an apology from staff for our ridiculously long wait. Also, for a place that seems to be all about toasting marshmallows and making s'mores around the fire, they had run out of ingredients for s'mores and hot chocolate...it was only lunchtime! We didn't have a much better experience being served at the light bites kiosk in the Serendome, they also took forever to serve the food. There was a little gem though, the little cafe in the village which we visited a couple of times, the staff were lovely and it's a great place for a quick lunch or treat. There isn't really a lot of entertainment, no shows, or at least not that we discovered. There was a disco on the last night which amused our 4 year old for 40 minutes but that was about it. We had literally done everything to death by the last day. WiFi wasn't too bad, although I had to keep signing in. Phone signal was pretty non-existent. I guess the real question is would we go back? And the answer is possibly, when our daughter is old enough to do the outdoor activities and in a warmer season. Although I don't think if it's worth the price outside of Feb half-term. My easy-to-please daughter would give 5 stars and it was all about her having a good time so it did the job in that regards, but comparing it to other holidays I'm giving it a 3.

We thoroughly enjoyed our family holiday at Bluestone Wales. The fantastic, friendly staff really made us feel welcome from our easy check-in to dining experiences. Our lodge was spotless with daily housekeeping. For rainy days, the indoor adventure center with soft play, mini bowling, and climbing walls kept our kids happily entertained for hours. The modern Serendome tropical pool area with sandy beach, water slides and splash pad was a huge hit! The free kids' club offered creative crafts, nature walks and games that had our children eagerly asking to go each morning. Having everything easily walkable meant we never needed to bother renting a car during our stay. We enjoyed walking the scenic trails to activities and village shops. A few areas we noted for improvement - the main pool area seemed a bit tired compared to the newer tropical Serendome. Also, while daytime activities abound, more evening entertainment options for adults and families would be nice as the resort caters beautifully to keeping all ages engaged. Food as expected was on the more expensive range, but comparable to resorts of this nature, this could be resolved by cooking within your cabin. Overall, Bluestone Wales gave us a five-star holiday experience that far exceeded expectations. We cannot wait to return and highly recommend it!

Pros Clean accommodation Good ‘deal’ for half term. Great views. Cheaper than the competition Cons Whole resort needs an update Expensive on site food. Italian restaurant had poor customer service and didn’t live up to expectations. Pool area was dirty, cold and too busy. To the point where they had to have a waiting list.

Bluestone is not a good choice for a family holiday. It felt like a survival mission as we waded through muddy areas, queued in the pouring rain, were ripped off in restaurants and spent a small fortune on activities that were underwhelming. The lodges were dark, dingy, glum, old fashioned and in need of a refit. There was no access to a washing machine which made life very difficult in a wet week in the winter - we returned from outdoor activities covered in mud. The free activities were not good and badly managed. We were turned away from The Blue Lagoon because it was overcrowded and, when we did get in on a different day, I felt as if I had stepped back into the 90s: the changing rooms and water flumes felt run down and in need of a deep clean. The prices of meals in the restaurants and food outlets were extortionate. The menus were uninspiring, unhealthy and left us feeling completely disappointed. Food in the resort supermarket was basic and much more expensive than a standard supermarket, making it almost impossible to prepare a good value, healthy, low effort meal for a family of four. We felt undervalued, ripped off and we decided to go home early as the week dragged on, we felt bored and we did not feel comfortable. Bluestone has an agenda to make every family spend as much money as possible, whilst delivering a basic experience that offers very poor value for money.
