For first impressions, the grand lobby of the historic Palmer House cannot be beat. The enormous size of the hotel and conference center makes it ideal for huge conferences. The age of the building gives it character. The rooms are clean, very comfortable and well appointed with the basic ammenities. My recent room had no coffeemaker, micro or fridge, but... More

I am frequently in Chicago and rarely stay downtown but chose to do so because I caught the train and everything I planed to do was in the vicinity of downtown. The location of the hotel was perfect. A friend was able to catch the Metra from the airport almost to the front door of the hotel! The front desk... More

My husband and I spent the weekend of January 27 here for SoxFest. Although the rooms are a little small (but typical for a city hotel) they are very comfortable. The staff is wonderful, and the convention facilities are superb. More

The rooms are quite small and the hotel is older, but reasonably well renovated. The beds are very comfortable. The executive floor has a very good continental breakfast and snacks throughout the day. The wireless internet worked well. The hotel is close to great shopping and restaurants within easy walking distance. More

I have been staying at The Drake for the past few years after having stayed here a few years ago with disappointment at the noise and room size. I returned with my sister for the weekend and we were pleased overall. As some have commented, the wait for the elevators is a problem. We were lucky as we were upgraded... More

I was upgraded to a suite that was bigger than my own apartment. This is a big hotel that has the grander of an old hotel. I have to say that the rooms are comfortable and well appointed and the hotel is in a great location from business - maybe not as great for tourism. The gym is great -... More

This has one of the most beautiful entryways and lobbies I have ever seen. Unfortunately, you do not get to sleep in the lobby. The accomodations are the smallest tiniest rooms I have ever stayed in that did not have wheels on the bottom. The closet door will only open part way because it hits the bed. The bathroom has... Palmer House is the perennial city classic with history details and warmth. Service is excellent, the rooms are clean and the food is good. For any history buffs, perfect selection and for anyone who just wants top notch with great service, this is your place. More

My husband and I are native Chicagoans so we had been so proud to have the legendary Palmer House in our city. We decided to splurge on a 2 day staycation at this 5 star hotel. The location, common areas and lobby lived up to it's reputation however our room was nothing short of pathetic! Old faded carpet, "gray" bedding... More
