Stayed here recently for 2 nights. The location is good (steps from Michigan Ave.), the common areas are historic and beautiful, and the staff is pleasant and courteous. As expected in a hotel of this vintage, my room was small (though nicely furnished), and the bathroom tiny. My window looked out at a tenement about 30 feet away. My major... more

The Palmer House is in a great central location...within easy walking distance to theater and parks. (Millinneum Park, just 2 blocks) Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, quiet rooms more

My wife and I stayed in room 10203. The room was tiny, the view was horrible but even worse, the room was incredibly noisy. There was obviously some kind of plumbing problem and we got woken up at 5:45 a.m. 2 days in a row when the person in an adjacent room took a shower. It resulted in an extremely... more

Everything went smoothly for my long weekend stay at The Palmer House. Although we waited in line for 10 minutes to check in (big conference in town), checking in was a breeze and the front desk staff was friendly. Stayed in a big room on the 19th floor near the end of the hallway. Street traffic noise was still fairly... more

This is a great hotel but a bit pricey for what you get out of the hotel itself. Rooms were only so-so, beds very comfortable, there was not coffee in the room which meant we had to leave the room for coffee at Starbucks or McDonalds. It is located, however, in the middle of downtown within walking distance of most downtown... more

Staying at this hotel was a step in the right direction compared with my previous visit at a youth hostel! I was initially given a double room when I have paid a king sized room but they did not have any as it was just after Christmas so told me that I would have to move into the king sized... more

My wife and I booked through Howire a few days before our 4 day trip to Chicago. We had never been there before and did not know where to stay so we thought we'd try Hotwire. We ended up getting a great deal on a 4 star hotel for $79/ night. As soon as we found out that we booked... more

I stayed with a friend for about five nights, having secured a great deal a few nights before our stay on hotwire.com for $75/night. I read the reviews online and was prepared for the pricey extras - the extra charge for internet use, gym use, charge for early check-in, etc that people complain about - and thus avoided them. The... more

I'm in for business, so I "upgrade" to the executive level. Internet is extra, and even the fitness center was extra! The water fountain they call a swimming pool was free, but overcrowded. The "executive" elevator didn't even access the fitness center level. The spa massage was the most overpriced ($325.00) disappointment ever. Don't even talk about what it was... more
