Service is excellent, rooms are beautiful, breakfast is very good but not cheap (you're not here on a budget right?) and the bar is nice and relaxing, even if it closes too early. A bit of a treat. The Ritz is one block off of Michigan Avenue and easily accessible to up scale shopping. Also it is connected to the 8 story Water Tower Place which is a fabulous shopping mall.
