Can't believe the last two reviews - what fussy people!!! We were delighted with the Seneca, incredibly good value for money, excellent location, good service, spacious room with comfortable bed, wonderful restaurant, comfortable sitting room and functional kitchen - the one gripe that I would support is that in the effort to update it the microwave takes up all the... more

There are lots of hotels like this in Europe.-- shabby yet clean rooms, extremely well located, family run with a caring staff and a fair price. Subract the family run, caring staff and sadly-- you have The Seneca. Here is the good and the bad. Good: Clean sheets, large rooms, great location for a fairly decent price. Bad: Indifferent and... more

This hotel sits on top of some really great restaurants, and has a fantastic location, yet it just misses the boat. Our room was a double queen suite, the t.v. was ancient and got terrible reception. The rug did not meet the door, the handles were broken off of the kitchen cabinetry, the bathroom was miniscule, wallpaper peeling off the... more

I've stayed at the Seneca twice in the last 5 months - once in March and once in July. I was in Chicago on business in March and liked the hotel so well that I brought my family of five back in July. Most recently, we booked a 2 queen, 2 bathroom suite for $149 a night (special Travel Zoo... more

For $138 a night I was pleasantly surprised by the size, cleanliness, and comfort of the room -- actually rooms. We ended up with a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bath. Staff was helpful although we didn't need to bother them much. Location is good: right behind the Hancock, a block off Michigan Avenue at Chestnut. We would stay there... more

My husband and I spent one night at the Seneca hotel. We were pretty disappointed in the condition of the room. Although we had a huge room with one bedroom with king bed, living room, dining area, kitchen and two closets it was very outdated. The bathroom was dirty when we checked-in. The toilet seat was dirty from a previous... more

This hotel is like your favorite uncle: cranky, but loveable. My wife, daughter and I have been coming to Chicago every year since 2001, and we've finally found the place we want to be when we're here. This hotel is a renovated apartment building (in fact, the top four floors are still conventional rentals) next to the Hancock Center just... more

We just returned from a four night stay at the The Seneca. I booked this trip through a Travelzoo promotion ($149/night for deluxe suite) before I read any Trip Advisor reviews. Since it was a non-refundable rate, there was no turning back. The exterior and interior of the hotel are full of charm and the staff is very polite and... more

travelzoo.com special which totaled $120.00. I'll keep it short as others have said as follows: older style room with one queen size bed, kitchenette with out-dated kitchen cabinets - stove, micro, refrig., pots, pans, utensils, small bathroom with jacuzzi tub, wrinkled carpet. It was alright for the price I paid. Great location. Hated that housekeeping knocked on my door three... more

So, after an anxiety filled month reading reviews here, wondering if we made a mistake by reserving a room at the Seneca, here is the deal: We arrived early from O'Hare, and the room wasn't ready. Suzanne at the front desk could not have been nicer, storing our bags and sugesting that we check back in a while. After a... more
