Met up with old friends at the Calcot Hotel, they lived in the area and had heard good things about the Sunday Carvery at the hotel and although not the cheapest three course Sunday lunch in town we were looking forward to it The restaurant was by no means busy and we were dining relatively early at 1pm. Started well with... More

All the reception staff, bar and restaurant staff we friendly and efficient. The hotel was as expected in a Best Western , good facilities with decent and reasonably priced food. The location was also excellent as it is not far from the motorway and only a few minutes drive into the centre of Reading

We have stayed at this hotel several times because it is convenient when visiting family. Up to now we have always experienced very good customer service with reception but not on this occasion. When we arrived I initially thought the reception area was without staff but waited for someone to come. Then I heard someone asking me if I wanted... More

`Our last full day in England and we were lucky enough to run across the Calcot Best Western in Reading. Comfortable and roomy room that was exceptionally clean and well appointed. The staff was very friendly and very helpful with our multiple questions. But the breakfast was the highlight not only of our stay at the Calcot but was the... More

Plus points:Nice clean rooms, slightly smaller than im used to, free wifi, polite staff, ample parking Negative points: was disappointed with the breakfast as the same tongs that were used for the ham was for the hash browns (lots of cross contamination) , so breakfast was a waste of money. Bath plug would not release water so it was a... More

There is nothing special about this hotel but it is clean, the staff are friendly and it's handy for the M4. The restaurant however is stuck in the 1980's and I wouldn't recommend it... rather bland and I think much of the menu is straight out of the microwave. Their apple and blackberry crumble is all crumble and no fruit... More

We booked this hotel through Lastminute.com for an overnight stay. £65 overnight, this did not include breakfast. First impressions of room we good, fair size room (94) with window, TV, dressing table and tea and coffee facilities. Had to have the bed sheet changed as it had a stain on it. Bathroom, small but functional, they do provide soap in... More

To celebrate my wife's 40th birthday, 15 of us booked into The Calcot for its dinner and dance night. The food was excellent, a wide range of choices on the carvery and the breakfasts were brilliant too. The room was basic and clean and the staff were very helpful.
