Lived in Des Moines for 10 years and never stayed here but recently had a date night with my wife and stayed at the Savery. What an awesome hotel, very neat, full of history. Great staff, clean and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again. Must thank the front desk people for the toothbrushes.

I booked this hotel thru Priceline by picking 3 1/2 stars and downtown area. I knew there were only 3 hotels in the downtown area. I paid $85 which was supposed to be 53% off. It is right downtown, about 3 miles from Mercy hospital where I have family in ICU. Since it is downtown you have to pay for... More

I am from Iowa and stay in the Renaissance Savery Hotel every time I'm in Des Moines. The staff is always attentive, the restaurant is always great (with good drinks at the bar as well), the rooms are nice and large with comfortable beds. The bathrooms are a bit small but I've stayed in rooms that have come with two... More

My family chose the Renaissance Savery for a stay in Des Moines for my son's wedding. The hotel is conveniently located near the river and Des Moines is a wonderful city for walking around and exploring. The hotel has posters all over with information about its history. Even in our bathroom there was a note that when the Savery was... More

I stayed here for a hybrid work/fun trip, and was disappointed considering that this is a Renaissance property. There's not enough staff. I had to go looking for a valet when I arrived to park my car. The cable and internet service is awful, which is a problem for business travelers. The toilet and sink were super loud, which woke... My room at the Renaissance Savery in Des Moines, IA bears more than a passing resemblance to a postage stamp. Even the full-size (double) bed seems oversize in this room. A low ceiling in a very tiny bathroom lends to a claustrophobic sense. Most annoying of all is a clothes closet that is only about 8" deep, meaning that all... More

Thank you for your feedback. The room you were in was one of our few remaining European rooms. The hotel was built in 1919 and at the time all of the rooms were of this size. We have done many renovation over the years and only have a few of these remain. Most of our rooms are very spacious. More

Just perfect. Good location, enormous rooms. Comfortable bed and room. We stay here every time when we go to downtown Des Moines. It was St Patricks weekend, we had a great time. The hotel is one block from all the pubs/bars and restaurants.

I stayed for a conference that was spread out between this hotel & 2 other locations. Our room was enormous--the size of 2 typical rooms--with 2 full baths. The hotel was full, so I was unable to stay here. From a conference standpoint, it was just ok. The room was very cold most of the day. I stayed at this hotel for one night in March 2013. This was my fourth stay at this property in the past year.
