Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Gave us a room that smelled of smoke. Walls needed repair and paint! Flies buzzing around our head..bed looked like it came off the street! Told manager could not stay there and he said no refund! OMG!

We are Pilot cars working in the wind energy field. We have been delivering in Eldorado and staying in marshaltown. This is a no frills motel but we enjoyed our stays. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The owner and her family extremely accommodating. Our schedules are crazy, she was very accommodating. Will be back.

Stayed here a couple of times. For an independent motel they have some upgraded amenities you might be used to seeing in midscale hotels. Rooms are clean, very spacious, and the price won't break the bank at all. With all the money I save by staying here, I'm able to splurge on breakfast and dinner during the day.

I was given a room that was under construction. There was cardboard on the floor, paint brushes, five gallon buckets of putty, and a shopvac. No shower curtain. The bathroom was filthy. There were cobwebs in the windows. And to top it off there were bed bugs. The place was cheap, but I would suggest paying a few extra dollars to avoid the bugs.

No longer a Best Western (I'm sure it was dropped as it no longer met BW standards). This is a dive, full of hard working Mexican immigrants/illegals who come up during the summer to detassle the corn, etc. Unfortunately, they like to drink lots of beer, party all night playing the same damn song, and sit outside their rooms watching you come and go. 1 light bulb worked in each room, chairs were broken, remotes didn't work, few telephones worked for several of us (so you can't call 911), and the staff are ridiculous and could care less about your room or your stay. For those of us who had a working phone, the front desk refused to answer the phone despite trying numerous times. They charge way too much for a dive like that. I think it was $70 for my king bed room, and $100 for my sister's king bed room that had a nasty jacuzzi in it that didn't even have running water hooked up. I felt like the bed and bedding were simply the nastiest, most rotten dirty bedding I've ever seen. I don't see how they are allowed to operate.

I read a review from another person who said there were roaches and the place was a dump, so I called to cancel my reservation. When I called the man who answered the phone yelled at me asking if I had any idea what time it was. I was under the impression that like most other hotels they were open 24/7. I guess not. It was 7am in NC so that would have been 6am in IA. That shouldn't have been a big deal. Anyway I ended up having a family member go to the hotel and cancel my reservation and everything turned out okay. I wouldn't advise dealing with these people. Spend the extra twenty bucks and stay at the Best Western.

We reserved 2 rooms for 2 nights for out of town guests. They had to contend with cockroaches, shower curtains full of mildew, a window that wouldn't close, a hot smell in the AC 24/7, smoke alarms hanging open with NO batteries, & refusal of a refund when asked for the 2nd night in order to move to other accomodations. Doesn't anybody ever inspect this place? We'll be passing the word on THIS motel! Many years ago this was THE place to stay while in our fair city. What happened? Just sign me Discusted...........
