We had made a reservation online for this Holiday Inn Express, planning to stop on a cross country trip for an overnight stay. The lobby and dining area looked very nice, but as we walked to our non-smokers room, we had to pass through the hall of smoking rooms and the smell was horrible.

The room at first seemed fine, though not as nice as the Fairfield Inn we had stayed in at Hays, KS the past week. Then we checked the bathroom and found it had not been cleaned. The tub was dirty and there were other signs that someone had not done their job. There were no other rooms available and although the front desk employee offered to come clean the bathroom (it was midnight) we chose to checkout and get our refund.

I would not choose this hotel again, for obvious reasons. I am sure there are better hotels in the Kansas City area, especially for the price we were going to pay.
