So you have seen all the reviews of this place being a bit run down, with small rooms and in the middle of nowhere. Well, staying in an isolated place isn't always a bad thing, so cell-phone reception isn't good at all, so what, you're on vacation or spending quality time away from things. Rooms are small, but comfortable with... More

A last minute get-away took us to this beautiful Lodge in south eastern Kentucky. It was clean, quiet and comfortable. The front desk workers were friendly and helpful. The restaurant served delicious meals with a fantastic view of the river. The bird feeders outside the dining room windows were active with birds, squirrels and even a groundhog. The "show" was... A wonderful park, way out in the Eastern Kentucky woods! The lodge was rustic, full of great wood and stone work (CCC construction, I think), with a patio overlooking the hills and river. Very tasty food in the lodge restaurant, both for dinner and breakfast. The hiking trails were really enjoyable, leading through Appalachian woodland and past an array of... More

The natural setting of this historic lodge complete with log beams, wagon wheel lighting and old stone fireplaces in addition to the magnificent Cumberland Falls below outshines any minor complaints I had with the place. This is a site for those who love nature, families and hikers, with several good hiking trails right in the park. It is located far... More

This is a beautiful older lodge. The lodge has a dated feel but in a way that is part of its charm. I’ve been in older hotels in desperate need of renovation and that is not the feel here. I just can’t explain why. The location inside the park is amazing. Our room looked out over the park and the... More

In reading other reviews I hear a lot of complaints about room size and updating. Yes, it's old and the rooms are small but that's part of the character of an old lodge. It was clean, that's all I cared about. The setting is gorgeous with a big patio overlooking the Cumberland River. Lots of hiking in the area as... More

Lousy internet reception, even worse cell phone reception, room keys that don't work half the time and a missing bathroom drain that took 3 days to fix after SEVEN complaints. The natural beauty almost makes up for the mediocre food at the restaurant and indifferent staff. We are here for five days with a group and the tiny room seems... More

This state park is amazing, but the lodge is seriously lacking. It is very outdated and the rooms are small. The room had two queen beds, old furniture, and an old TV. The AC/heat unit was very loud. The main lobby is cozy, with rocking chairs and a fireplace. Staff at the front desk and restaurant were friendly and courteous.... More

We stopped here to break up the drive from South Carolina to Michigan. It isn't far from the freeway--and it changed a night stop into an adventure. The lodge is cosy and sociable. A fellow guest had a traditional instrument he played in front of the fire, while we chatted and rocked and looked at the fire--after we took a... More

Growing up in western PA, I frequently heard the term "Pennsyltucky" thrown around. Having never been to Kentucky, I didn't understand the reference. Coming to Cumberland Falls state park made it clear. The DuPont lodge is a beautiful inn in the heart of the forest perched above the river. It is not fancy but comfortable, clean and cozy. The staff... More
