This was 23rd country we visited and undoubtably the best vacation so far since it was not agenda driven. Anantara Dhigu made our stay extremely satisfied with 360 degree hospitality. We are a family of 4 with 2 kids and stayed in both beach villa and over-water villa. The staff at Anantara takes their job very seriously which includes the airport transfers, room boy, receptionist, guest services, waiters, buggy service boys, Chef....! They know your name, your preferences, your taste, and make all the efforts to ensure your stay is beyond expectations. We liked the location as it is just 30 mins transfer on a speedboat. The lagoons are widespread and you can literally cross the islands on foot during a low tide. You can spot sharks, sting rays, fishes, turtles from overwater villa during high-tides.

Kids loved beach villa as they could run into the beach anytime of the day. But an experience of overwater villa is a must. I suggest to split it 3:1 or 3:2.

Food is extremely tasty with Asian, Italian, Thai, Arabic, Indian cuisines. The check can also make dishes/drinks of your choice with 1-2 hours notice. We are vegetarian and still had a lot of choices in all the restaurants.

There is plenty to do on the resort. The infinity pool is awesome and they also provide family bikes. You can do water sports....life jackets in the room and snorkelling gears are complimentary. They could not offer us late check-out due to high demand, but organised a complimentary guided tour in Male.

Overall, we had a real 5 star experience and were taken care with utmost hospitality including room cleaning twice a day. I strongly recommend Anantara resorts even in my dreams. It might cost you a bit more, but the hospitality and memories will be worth the penny spent.

This was a very short but much needed break. We needed time to relax, unwind and recharge.
we expected it to be somewhat quieter but surprised that the hotel was fully booked - no restrictions to number of people
However, there were many ways to keep safe with temp check machines and hand sanitsers everywhere you went - even on the little boat transfer to the private snorkeling island. We had some issues at breakfast but these were resolved after a discussion with management and staff. Dinner at the Thai restaurant served by A who was amazing, was excellent in a unique setting. Thank you for a lovely break with beautiful sunsets between the thunderclouds and a stunning room villa over the water to watch the little and large fish swim by. The bed was large and comfy - Shani took extra special care of us and decorated our bed with a beautiful flower message arrangement for our anniversary....Anantara Maldives we look forward to seeing you again.

We traveled to Anantara Dhigu at the beginning of October and stayed for about 2 weeks. Given the situation of COVID-19 that we are currently experiencing, I can say that both the trip from Lisbon to the Maldives and the stay at Anantara Dhigu went very well! With regard to the resort's safety and sanitazing procedures, we always felt very safe.

The resort is literally in paradise, it is very quiet, however, there are plenty of activities to do, beach, snorkeling, diving and so many other water activities that can be requested at Aquafanatics, cycling, spa treatments or simply relax.

We had a 7-day treatment at the spa, which was undoubtedly one of the best things about our vacation and that most contributed to our relaxation. Amr was one of the therapists who did most of the massages and who always showed a lot of dedication, kindness and, above all, great techniques and the correct application of pressure depending on whether it was a relaxing massage or more therapeutic. Marina and Yulia were also always very friendly in welcoming us.

Xavier, the beach guru, was also one of the people we loved to meet during our stay, because every day he prepared coconut water with the same enthusiasm and sympathy.

Meals can be taken in several restaurants on the resort and are absolutely delicious! One of the restaurants we liked the most was Baan Huraa, a Thai restaurant with an incredible atmosphere and view, the service is fantastic. Nang is super friendly and fun and Paradon has always helped us to make a good menu choice.

Without a doubt, we hope to return soon.
Catarina

We first visited this resort 6 years ago and fell in love with the it. We did visit another resort 3 years ago but decided to visit this island for our latest visit.

We fell in love with the resort the first time around and indeed the Anantara chain of hotels. We have stayed at several other of their resorts across the world but this one is by far our favourite. The staff were all without fail exceptionally friendly and helpful. The attention to detail is incredible and every effort is made to make your stay as enjoyable as they can.

We stayed in a sunrise overwater villa. We chose not to book a sunset villa because you can view the sunset from the beach. We would have cocktails watching the sunset and my advice would be to save your money and book the sunrise villas if you are looking to save a little money. There were the occasional kayakers and kite surfers who strayed a little close to the villas. I don’t think the water sport activities take place in front of the sunset villas.

There is a great choice of restaurants but you need to book early if you want to eat at the Terrazzo or Sun, Fire, Salt restaurants.

This place ticked all the boxes for us. It’s an expensive holiday but worth every penny. We talk about visiting other islands in the Maldives but we will probably end up coming here again simply because we know what to expect. For us - we have found our slice of heaven and we don’t need to go looking anywhere else!

The Maldives is indeed very beautiful. It was the the first time this December we went there with our 8 year old twins for a 3 night/4 day break . Schools and offices in Dubai had a long weekend holiday so flights were full and Male airport got very very crowded with very long queues at the counter for stamping the passports... if coming again we will take the trouble to come slightly off season or on a weekday .. after 2 hours amidst the suffocating crowds we came out with the bags and found the small anantara lounge.. we were seated , luggage taken charge of and after filling in some forms were whisked off to the boat .:!the transfer took about 40 mins and we were at the resort to drum beats and song welcome .. it was raining and we were early so were handed welcome drinks and shown into a room , think it was the library., we waited for an hour or so and then at 2.30 were shown to our room.,The beach villa was lovely’ and at the far end of the island.. preferred it to the sunset side ones .. could see fewer people around but the view is of the other islands and not the wide oceans and beyond.... we enjoyed snorkling in the water just outside our villa and saw several fish n also a turtle ..

We would like to return to the Maldives but not keen to stay at the anantara.. our flight was at night and on the last day we got a late check out but the return boat transfer would drop us at the airport just in time fort the flight.. we were told we will have to pay more for a private transfer , above what we had already paid ,if we wanted to leave earlier which was almost as much as a nights room rate., We took the scheduled transfer and the boat had to be changed because of some technical issues and ultimately it started raining and last half hour we thought we will miss our international flight ..Almost all the people on this boat were on our flight too so why weren’t we dropped at the airport by an earlier boat? We were told the scheduled transfers are all full and will have to pay if we wanted to leave any earlier .. finally we reached the airport an hour before our international flight .. too much risk which could have avoided .. If we have to pay so much and face such uncertainty might as well go to the islands further away from Male .,The reason we chose Anantara was it was closer and the transfer will be smooth .. Did not like the manner in which the holiday ended .. Still given it a 4 stars as the place is good .. Food for kids at the free buffet must be improved .. imagine our pizza loving kids say ‘ no pizza’ by the 3rd day ., same stuff everyday .. especially vegetarian food ., Elsewhere we have choices of many restaurants but in Maldives .. with one resort per island more effort should be made for people with food restrictions as they have nowhere else to go ..
Also the open baths are on the inside and not relaxing at all as you can hear every passerby talking on the paths outside.. Can’t expect people to be silent but a glass addition to the wall to make it higher or something else should be done.

We had a pleasant and memorable stay at Anantara Dhigu. All that you would expect from Maldives; Miles of shallow pristine turquoise water, white sandy beaches, spectacular sunsets, tropical sceneries, and incredible food – You got everything covered at Anantara. The resort itself is a beautiful island, surrounded by a lagoon and we can use the cycles already provided to roam around this little paradise.

The wildlife on the island is impressive, and we got to see sharks, sting rays and a multitude of fish directly from our villa balcony. We chose to stay at Sunset over water villa, which is one of their most sort accommodations. The rooms are very spacious with all luxury amenities and a fabulous bath area overlooking the Indian Ocean. Beach essentials like flip flops to life jacket to beach bag were available in the room. From the moment we were received at the airport to the moment we were dropped for departure, every service was seamless and well organized.

Food: Food is amazing, and you will find everything you may want. There are four restaurants in Anantara including the sea facing aqua bar where you can get beautiful views of the sunset. The breakfast is served at Fushi cafe which has delicious options. Each morning we are welcomed by the appetizing breakfast spread with Asian/Arabic/Western warm dishes and a wonderful selection of pastries, cold cut fruits, juices, and yoghurt jars. The spread is so big that you won’t be able to taste everything at once. They even have a live smoothie corner.
The Thai restaurant Baan Huraa is in another island which requires a boat ride. The view from this restaurant is amazing and has a variety of Thai dishes to choose from. Even with our Half board option we could select our favorites from the menu and enjoyed a full course dinner.

Snorkeling: We had direct access to crystal clear water from our villa, which gave us a feeling of privacy and safety. It was my wife’s first time at snorkeling, and she was elated with the magical and blissful experience. We got to see countless beautiful fishes. Water near to the villa is shallow and safe even for kids. Evenings are not recommended for water activities as the sea is a bit rough.

Guest Relations - Every team member of the resort had a pleasant smiling face always and was ready to assist with anything.

The resident manager Mr. Supratik Guha is very friendly and can be approached for any support.

On the whole, it was a soulful retreat, and we are surely coming back.

On a separate note on the travel, immigration at the airport is messy, be ready for long queues and the chances of bags getting switched is very common. It is highly recommended to place unique markings or use cover for your luggage to avoid such issues. We had to survive one day without clothes and other essentials because of this. Luckily the airport and hotel team provides good assistance in coordinating to get the luggage back.

We recently came back from a lovely 1-week holiday at this property. It was a booking that had been rescheduled multiple times due to the pandemic and we were all bit nervous about traveling. Once we arrived at the property, we almost forgot about the crazy 2020 we are all living in at the moment.

We were made to feel very welcome and comfortable as soon as we arrived. Airport and transfer experience was really well organized and seamless, you are pretty much off the plane and onto a boat, then 30mins later at the resort. This was much appreciated after a night flight from Dubai.

Resort was beautiful, spotless, well maintained and the team at the resort were all super friendly and easy to talk to. Many thanks to Joker, Ali, Hassan and everyone at team Anantara for making us feel so welcome. We really appreciated the more laid back and friendly approach.

Food was excellent, pretty much existed on grilled fish, rice and vegetables. The kids loved it too, describing it as the 'fish that tastes like chicken'.... job done. Go easy on the wine, it’s very expensive, my only negative about the place.

The surroundings were amazing, makes you feel lucky to be alive when you're in a place like this. Kids can run around free, they tried their hardest to get lost, but it's impossible as the island is so small. Sea was a little choppy at times, but we were always safe. Our favorite things to do, snorkeling around the various little reefs, jumping off the pier, walking miles out to sea and the water still being up to your knees.

Recommended!

We were at Anantara Dhigu in mid December, and it was the first trip for our family of 5 (we have 3 girls aged 12, 7, 7) in 10 months. From the moment we were met by Anantara representatives at the airport, we felt special. The whole experience was wonderful, and the resort lives up to its 5-star rating. At the airport we were received by Anantara reps at the airport and got checked in at the dedicated lounge, before being whisked away in a private boat to the resort, where we were greeted by a reception party. We had a 2 bedroom villa, and it was 10 meters from our sliced of white sand and turquoise and azure waters. We even had our private courtyard with beanbags and a hammock! The waters around the island were calm and most of the guests went around barefoot. There was an elegant yet relaxed vibe to the resort, and it seemed to be a favourite for well healed families.

But what truly made the experience special was the staff. We were treated by everyone as if we were the only guests on the island. Special mentions go to Supratik, Giles, and Arai (who was like a private concierge for any request) at front office, Mr Z and Miss A at the restaurant (who were very attentive to our daughter’s allergies), and Hamsi who looked after our villa and made sure it was spotless and an oasis to return to.

There are lots of activities to do (we did surfing, parasailing, swimming with turtles, snorkelling at the private island belonging to Anantara), but they are not cheap (other than snorkelling which is free including the snorkels and fins) as is expected from a 5 star resort in the Maldives.

On the constructive feedback side, I think the food could be better, other than breakfasts which was amazing. For dinner the options were the main restaurant (Salt Fire, decent), Thai (very good), Italian (not very good) and Japanese (which we didn’t try). One other point (which was not that relevant for us since our girls have outgrown the need) was the kids club, which seemed a bit tired and could have more interesting and engaging activities for younger guests.

But overall, a magical experience and one that we will remember fondly for years.

We stayed at this hotel as a part of our 2nd stop in our 3 week holiday last summer. We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 girls aged 4 and 7.

On our arrival at the airport we were guided to the air conditioned lounge and waited for our boat transfer.

We had initially booked a beach villa on the sunrise side, however after seeing the uninteruppted views on the sunset side, we decided to upgrade to a villa on that side. I would seriously recommend doing this at the outset if the views are important to you, as we realised it was more expensive to do later. We saw a turtle swimming by everyday, it was definitely a highlight for the girls.

The island and hotel is so breathtakingly beautiful. The food in the restaurants is also very good and the breakfast buffets have a good selection. Only thing is that if you arrive later for breakfast you end up waiting a long time for your eggs order. We were on a half board basis, which I definitely would recommend at the very least as the food is very expensive. A good thing they do offer is that under 12's eat for free, so we didnt have to worry about my girls if we decided to skip lunch.

We made use of the kids club on the island and felt comfortable with leaving the girls there on their own, mainly as our villa was literally next to it. We also did the dolphin watching excursion which was amazing.

On our last night we had booked an overwater villa, which we also had to upgrade to the sunset side. We checked out of the beach villa and was allowed to check in early into the overwater villa, thanks to Mr Amla for arranging this. The villa was beautiful and spacious and we stayed in the room the whole day! Our flight on the next day was very late and the hotel kindly let us have a late checkout which is great when you have kids.

I would definitely recommend this hotel especially if you are visiting with kids. My girls absolutely loved spotting the fish, sting rays and hermit crabs. If we decide to visit the maldives again with the kids, I would choose to split our stay between both types of villas again. The girls had more fun in the beach villa, as they could walk straight out to the beach and play, whereas me and hubby loved the overwater villa.

I can't wait to go back, hopefully very soon 🙏

Going on holiday right now seems like a dream for many of us ... travelling to Maldives and having an opportunity to stay at Anantara Dhigu was nothing short of a dream come true! With all the uncertainty around us one thing that you can be sure of is that Anantara Dhigu has all the covid protocols in place and will make you feel safe. From our transfer, arrival to departure, everything was smooth and efficient.

Supratik (Resident Manager) and his team made us feel like royalty! The staff is friendly and will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable! Our Villa Hostess, Arai was very pleasant and sorted all our activities and plans for the day. It is an ideal resort for families with children with a variety of activities to offer to keep the children (and adults) entertained!

We stayed in an over water sunset villa with a private plunge pool. The villa is spacious and tastefully furnished. All the amenities are available and our room attendant cleaned our room twice daily and ensured that everything was spick and span!

The views all around the resort are simply breathtaking! We tried all the different dining options during our week long stay and the food was delicious in all of the different restaurants. They have a wide selection of cuisines to choose from such as Italian, Japanese, Thai and Continental.

This is our second visit here and certainly will not be our last! This property has to be one of the best we have visited and we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here as a family! If there is one place that you can go on holiday then there is no better place than Anantara Dhigu! It really is a piece of heaven on earth!

sunset beach villa is super, in the future it needs renovation, but this will not bother kids, vicinity of the pool and kids activities and kids club is what will matter to the kids

No worries and don’t look at the weather forecast for Maldives at all. It is a constant equatorial climate according to the season/ wet or dry / February is a perfect month to go.
