My friend and I spent one night at the Swamp Cabin/Wildlife Gardens. Betty and her husband are sweet as can be and made me the most delicious hash browns I've ever tasted. The grounds are beautiful in the day time, a little scary at night (we stayed on Friday the 13th which didn't help). If going in Winter months, pack... more

This is a lovely place to spend a few days. We wanted to get a feel for the nature and landscape of southern Louisiana, and hopefully also for Cajun culture too. Wildlife Gardens exceeded our expectations. Betty is the most delightful, welcoming and friendly person. To be honest the highlight of our 3 days in Gibson was spending an hour... more

My husband and I just returned from a "second honeymoon" at Wildlife Gardens B & B in Gibson, La. What a wonderful time we had. I hesistate to write too glowing a review because I want to be assured of an availability when we book a reservation in the future. This is the place for nature lovers. Some of the... more

Wildlife Gardens was more than a B&B night in the swamplands, it was a memorable and educational experience. This unique B&B was quite the pleasant stay and experience. My cabin was clean and had a great porch over the swamp. From the screened in porch, I loved listening to the sounds of the swamplife and approaching thunderstorm accompanied by a... more

We were just a bit apprehensive about staying in a cabin over a swamp, and I have to confess we started having second thoughts when we arrived and saw how rustic and isolated the place is, but we decided to throw caution to the wind and stay. We couldn't be happier that we did. The cabins are indeed rustic, but... more

As others have suggested, don't come to Wildlife Gardens if you don't like the idea of a semi-rustic cabin. But for anyone else, it's a great deal. Betty, the host, is very nice and helpful. Considering that you're also getting a nice environment, breakfast, and proximity to some good actiivities (I recommend Bayou Black Airboat Swamp Tours...very close by), the... more

Wildlife Gardens is a great place for some people. They no longer do tours and demonstrations since the owner's husband died, although she can set you up with a local guide. So it is really only a B&B. The 4 cabins are quaint and isolated, with screened porches over a bog. They are clean with water, shower and toilet, plus... more

I was traveling by myself (a woman), and I wanted to be in a peaceful place to experience a few days of solitude. This IS the perfect place....the cabins are private (and primitive- this is not a place for pampered people). It was exactly what I was looking for...no commercialism, a knowledgeable host (Betty Provost) and a screened porch to... more

A group of us visit Louisiana each year in the Spring and always include an overnight at the Wildlife Gardens. The peaceful atmosphere, the beauty of the land, the rustic cabins and country breakfast are a great relief after a couple of days in the French Quarter. Our hostess, Betty Provost, is a delight and so knowledgeable about all of... more

What a cool place! This is a perfect place for nature lovers! If you are willing to make the effort to venture out of New Orleans for a night or two, you may as well get a real swamp experience. You will be delighted as you pull up to the property and are greeted by Miss Betty’s lovely peacocks, geese,... more
