This place is an part guesthouse, part youth hostel. We stayed in one of the private rooms, the Bird's Nest. It was described as "a quiet nook of a room for guests looking for a little more privacy." There was a private bathroom across the hallway, which I expected. This arrangement was similar to that of several B&Bs I've enjoyed.

The location is perfect. It's about five blocks from the center of downtown, far enough to be quiet when the band's not playing at the saloon downstairs. It's tucked away on a pleasant side street. And the Saloon has a great feel -- it's indoor/outdoor and features terrific live music. The night we were there, we listened to Lil' Wayne and the Same Ol 2 Step, a terrific zydeco band that attracted a happy, interracial, local crowd of all ages. The dance floor smoked.
