We stayed for one night and had a lovely water view from our room at the back of the hotel. This view may disappear as the lot directly behind the hotel has a for sale sign on it, and someone could build there. The room was a bit weird as there was a large column right in the middle of it,... more

Old metal stairs, with badly worn railings, lead up to second floor rooms. The whole building is in need of a new paint job. The furniture is dated and worn. A wrap around "porch" affords a view into the rooms especially when you have to open window to get some air. The staff was surly. The breakfast limited and small... more

Penobscot Bay Inn Location: Belfast, Maine, United States, North America Title: Owner response ID#: 48521586 WOW! If I believed what these folks thought of this place I wouldn’t stay here either. It’s easy to get defensive in this situation so let me try to tell our side of this story without being overly sensitive. We have a very nice19 room...

We stayed overnight here on our way through Maine and discovered that Belfast is a great little town. The Inn is five minutes out of town, right off the highway so if your room faces the highway there's a little road noise. We stayed in the old part of the inn, upstairs from the restaurant. Our room was small but... more

I have stayed at the Penobscot Bay Inn twice a year for the last 4 years. I cannot say enough good things about it. It is always very, very clean and very reasonably priced. I've stayed in at least 5 different rooms during my visits and have found no fault with any of them. Its location on the Maine coast... more

We stayed two nights at the Penobscot Bay Inn. Our room was in the "Field House", which was once an outbuilding and was made into lodging about 15 years ago. The decor is contemporary. Everything in the room and bath was in top condition and very clean and the rates were very reasonable. Breakfast was included; served in the on-site... more

If comfort, cleanliness, affordability, and friendliness are critieria you use when selecting a place to stay...then a room at the Penobscot Bay Inn will be sure to please! The Innkeeper was very accommodating. I called him several times before we arrived and each time he was friendly and helpful! We were very pleased with our rooms. We stayed three nights.... more

We just returned from Maine that included 4 nights at the Penobscot Bay Inn. My sister and I took our father to Maine to celebrate his 80th birthday. The innkeeper, Val was waiting for us when we arrived at 6 PM. We had booked one room for the 3 of us. Upon check-in Val offered my father his own room!... more

The Penobscot Bay Inn was our third stop as we motorcycled through northern Maine with another couple. The rooms were comfortable, with a clean, but tiny bath. Towels were really thick and comfy. There is a waterview of the bay, but no water access from the property. The Inn is about 1.5-2 miles out of town on Rt. 1 We... more

The only negative thing I can think of is that Tall people will have a hard time sleeping since beds have footboards. Good food, good location, nice staff. more

WE stayed there over Independence Day WE. The hotel is very quiet, well appointed and has a fantastic view on the bay. As mentioned on previous reviews, parking can be a bit tight. Also the management should consider expanding the hours for inclusive breakfast later than 8-9. We did not really mind this time as we had plenty to visit,... more
