Al and Jackie are our kind of people, environmentally conscious, active in their community and knowledgeable about the recreational opportunities in the area. Their home is inviting. Their hospitality is top-drawer. Al's breakfasts are abundant and delicious! The Rivendell House is within easy walking distance to several excellent restaurants in the sleepy little burg of Bethel (another plus). We would... more

This was a perfect place to stay as we were visiting Western Maine. The home was interesting, well decorated, and very clean. The hosts were fun and friendly and we had a great country breakfast. They had good suggestions and directions for us as well as we continued our trip. We would love to stay there again. more

The room and the breakfast were wonderful. But the hospitality shown by Al and Jackie was magnificent. We felt as if we were part of their family. They were very helpful with places to see and restaurants to recommend and demonstrated a sincere concern for our well being. Don't miss this opportunity. more

It's difficult to add to the praises already found on this site. My wife and I found the accomodations very comfortable, the housekeeping meticulous, and food scrumptious. Above all, I noticed the grace with which Jackie and Al provide all this, causing guests to relax in unaccustomed luxury. Surely, worth a trip in itself. more

what a welcoming bed and breakfast. Al and Jacquie could not have been nicer-from helping with our hiking choices, restaurants, and lending a book to read-eveything was perfect. Breakfasts were fantastic/delicious-and cooked with care- Jacquie's porridge and oatmeal bread -so good! you will really enjoy your stay! we'll be back more

After our three-night stay at Rivendell House in August, 2009, we can only echo many of the comments already provided by previous guests. Jackie and Allen are simply the best B&B hosts that we’ve run across in our travels. They treated us like close friends and we missed them as soon as we left. Their home was a wonderful base... more

It is not often that we feel confident enough to recommend somewhere to stay to our friends but this time we have no hesitation. After years of international business travel, we found Rivendell House to be an outstandingly good and well-run B&B with very caring attention to every detail. The way the house is laid out ensures privacy for guests... more

Rivendell house is a very pleasant B&B located in a quite small town in a quiet cul de sac. Honestly, I did not hear a sound from outside the entire long weekend I was there. An outstanding feature of this B&B is the hosts. Jackie and Allen are very interesting people and if you’re in the mood for socializing and... more

Situated on the corner of a grass and tree covered square, Rivendell House has a picturesque New England setting. After a long drive from New York City our gracious hosts, Jackie and Al, offered us an evening drink. My wife had lemonade and I enjoyed a gin and tonic as I rocked on chair on the veranda. The hosts gave... more

We were 4 related males, from age 10 to 66, on a ski weekend. The hosts were cordial, interesting. Their house is a beautiful, restored maine farm-house, in-town, loaded with antiques and treasures. Breakfast was wonderful. Couldn't ask for any more. more
