My wife had never been to Maine before. Arrived here just after end of busy season, our first evening. Got a room in wing right over the edge of the bay, with good discount (hotel magazine coupon) off the $200 room. Sunset was beautiful. Restaurant closed early, but we arrived just in time for a late evening supper ( Only... more

We reserved a room there because their ad in AAA said "oceanview". Sorry folks, no ocean!!! Just a small bay. When we asked about the ad we were told "Well, it's ocean water!!" The rooms were very old and run down and the bed was not comfortable. The restaurant closed early and could not even get morning coffee. Our traveling... more

Had discount coupon from travel magazine. Arrived at hotel early (1:30 pm) on Monday and was told coupon was not accepted because they were "sold out" but entire hotel was empty. Looked at a couple rooms at double cost of coupon and they were run down, old and mildewy. We stayed at a B&B and drove past Smuggler's Cove around... more

This hotel is not worth anywhere near $200 a night. It does have an incredible view so that is clearly what you are paying for. Our room was dark and the bathroom was outdated. Which was interesting because I read somewhere that it was refurbished in 2007. The shower was horrible and there were no electrical outlets in the bathroom.... more

Although we read many negative reviews, we chose to stay at the Smuggler's Cove. We truly enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the Lantern, overlooking the water and watched the tide come in and out. The room was very clean. The bed wasn't as comfortable at home, but we didn't wake up sore, either. I believe every room had a... more

This is a nice little hotel away from the hubbub of downtown Boothbay Harbor. Great views of the bay from private balcony, can go right down to the water from the property, nice breakfast buffet included, nice pool, short trip to Boothbay Harbor for shopping and dining. more

We stayed in Boothbay on our way up the coast. It was a great waterfront experience. I had never been to boothbay and we loved it. Smugglers Cove was clean and private and the view of the ocean was really gorgeous. The rooms were nice and priced right. It is outside of town but right on the water. One building... more

My wife and I had an excellent vacation at Smuggler's Cove Inn last week. The full breakfast was outstanding and the view from our room's balcony was amazing. We enjoyed the hospitality of the employees very much during our 4 night stay. Hope to go back next year for a longer stay especially since the inn is located away from... more

I booked a two night stay for October 2007. The woman that took the reservation explained the cancellation policy to me. If I canceled within 14 days of reservations, I would be charged for one night stay for each room. I agreed and hung up the phone. Well, I began reading the reviews on this site and on other sites... more

Where do I begin...everyone can hear everyone else's business through the thin walls; the beds are hard; the linens were shabby; they only vacuum the center of the floor (there were very visible crumbs and other debris between the beds and the nightstand, and in the closet); the lighting is poor; it was too far off the beaten path... I... more
