We just returned from 6 days at the Spruce Point Inn in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. The location is exquisite -- we had one room in a 3-unit cottage overlooking the harbor, and the view was post-card perfect. Everything else about the property was strictly average (or less than average) and therefore a poor value at about $400 a night. The... more

My wife, daughter, and I wanted to go to Maine to enjoy a classic (but modernized) waterfront Maine resort/retreat and hit the nail on the head with the Spruce Point Inn. From check in to check out, we couldn't have been more pleased. We enjoy some privacy so we chose one of the cottages. It was "cleanly "rustic looking (in... more

This hotel is old and tired. The clerk at check-in was perky and helpful up until the point when she was interrupted by another employee and never really completed telling us about the accommodation. Distracted. We stayed at a cottage which was only OK. Small bathroom, old mattress. Bellman who took us to room, wasn't sure if it had AC... more

When I called the Inn they quoted me a nightly room rate. I expected to pay the nightly rate plus a 7% State lodging tax. When I received the bill I discovered they charged me an additional 10% "facility fee." Not only did they charge me the additional fee, but they buried it in with the 7% state lodging tax,... more

We had our family vacation here can't say anything bad about our stay. Staff was very nice. Our room was clean with everything we needed for the stay. All my family enjoyed the meals that we had there. Maine is a great place. We would love to have stayed longer but had to get back to work. more

First of all, your map may show the location of this hotel in the wrong place. It is located on the southeast side of the harbor, on the southernmost tip of spruce point, NOT up at the crowded north end of the harbor. We did a drive-by of all the hotels on the harbor and by far this seemed the... more

We picked this resort for a family reunion and the results were mixed. If you stayed in one of the newer buildings, then our relatives liked them. We stayed in one of the old cottages and it was unacceptable - old mattresses, a toliet that leaked and had to be replaced, torn curtains, etc.. The other surprise was how bad... more

My husband an I went to SPI for our anniversary and we were disappointed from the moment we arrived! The SPI is not a luxury resort! It is a glorified motel at best. The location was beautiful but the accomodations definitely took away from the beauty. The rooms looked like they were decorated in the 80's and haven't been touched... more

The Spruce Point Inn is a situated in an incredibly beautiful part of the world, right on Boothbay Harbor. With a little more attention to detail, this spot would easily earn a "5" and I imagine would be one of the premier spots around. Spruce Point Inn appears to contain a main inn, several guest houses containing four rooms apiece... more

When my family and I first checked into the Spruce Point Inn, we got a cottage for nearly $500 per night. Unlike the pictures on the internet and the explanations, these are not a luxury or any bit beautiful. There is a crammed kitchen and very rustic features. The next day we got upgraded to a waterfront cottage, now paying... more
