This hotel, for the price is the biggest gyp we have encountered in a very long time. We had a dog friendly room, for which we paid a hefty supplement, hadn't been updated in eons, not so much as a comfortable chair. Clean yes, but an insult at there usorous prices. Never, never, never...I'd rather sleep in my car. more

We stayed here after checking out of the Drydock Inn in Southwest Harbor, because it was a dump. (The nicer places in Southwest Harbor were full because of fall foliage season.) Ellsworth is nothing special but close to Acadia NP so driving was easy. The Holiday Inn was very functional - clean and comfortable and everything worked. Front desk was... more

I’m not sure why this place has a number of poor reviews, but I just got back from a two night stay there and would absolutely recommend it to everyone. Because of the reviews I only booked for one night and was very worried, but we ended up staying the next night, too. It was a perfect spot to be... more

I can't believe how bad this hotel was! My church group and I went up there for a Ladies Conference. When I walked into my room with another girl who was bunking with me it was so hot we couldn't breathe. Then we turned on the air and it blew warm air for the longest time. When it came time... more

I saw a coupon in our local paper for Stay One Night Stay Another Free so I decided it would be nice to stay there for the weekend as a relaxation trip. Check in was fine although the front desk staff seemed a little frazzled. We were assigned to Room 231 and walked in to a wall of heat. The... more

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Ellsworth with eight other families as part of a hockey tournament. The hotel was clean and the rooms looked recently refurbished. There were a few strands of hair in the bathroom, but no signs of mold or mildew. Beds were comfortable and had enough pillows. The pool area is large and offers a decent... more

We went for a weekend for a wedding and arrived after check-in time. The staff was wonderful. The resturant there was great and the staff was very nice in helping us finding locations and nice places to visit. The beds were a little hard, but you get use to it! The room was very clean and so was the pool.... more

We stayed here during the Thanksgiving holiday while in town visiting family. The location was great; the staff was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the breakfast in the restaurant very much. But we will not stay here again because of the beds. I just don't understand why some hotels opt to put thin, hard, uncomfortable mattresses in their establishments. The... more

I've stayed at this hotel a few times over the past few years, and I must say that this hotel seems to have been slightly updated sometime recently. In past stays, I've found the bed linens to be quite old and shabby, and the wireless internet completly un-useable. But upon my last stay I found newly updated linens, and the... more

The staff in this hotel were outstanding -- warm, welcoming, friendly, helpful. Rooms were very comfortable -- several amenities on-site (pool, tennis court, restaurant). If you want above average basic services, this is a wonderful place to stay. The hotel is about a very easy, straight-line drive of 20 minutes away from Bar Harbor/Acadia Natl Park, but that's not a... more
