We stumbled across this place on the internet and had a great time there! It was a really cosy laid back place with a huge log fire and comfy communal lounge. The place was on the edge of a gorgeous lake where we went on a sunset cruise to look for moose. Or you could hire kayaks. Really nice continental... more

This place is located in the heart of Maine's Northern Woods so don't have too many wants! But for what it's worth-this place is incredible! I stayed in a room but I think the Cabins and Campgrounds were probably equally as good! The staff was incredble! At no hotel or inn that I've stayed at has the staff made a... more

We used the Big Moose Inn as our base for outdoors activities in the area. As a staging ground, it was perfect--couldn't ask for a more convenient location for rafting, moose tours, and exploring the lake. The service was very good and the pub-style restaurant had good food and cheap, good beer--always a winning combination. The only downside is that... more

Big Moose Inn is beautiful and quaint! The restaurant is elegant and the decor has a lot of character and personality! The food is wonderful! However, a room with an open window (windows open to the nice evening air) toward the road outside - results in the sound of logging trucks all night long. Keep in mind if you have... more

I recently spent three nights in the Big Moose Inn and was very impressed with how comfortable the rooms were, the relaxed atmosphere, and the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff. The room was small but very clean and comfortable. The small size of the room was more than made up for by the public spaces at the inn,... more

I would not recommend these accommodations l to anyone, particularly large groups. We arrived after 9 hours of driving, half of our group (of 12) went into the inn's store while the other half went into check in. The group that went to check out the store was welcomed by someone making a snide comment 'ugh, not another big group.'... more

We stayed at the Big Moose Inn for two nights in early August, and were quite surprised to find this very civilized B&B in the middle of the Maine woods. The rooms were clean, comfortable and inexpensive. The inn also has new suites, with their own bathrooms, however, we didn''t stay there. Downstairs is a large dining room, with a... more

We stayed 1 night at Big Moose Inn before whitewater rafting. We had a long drive to get there. We were hungry when we arrived, but found that both the restaurant and snack bar were only open wednesday-Sunday. The only place to eat was a small store next to it where we could get a sandwich or pizza. If you... more

After a drenching thunderstorm and 30 degree temperature drop on our Penobscot rafting trip, we were basically just looking for a warm dry place to stay but we found so much more. The Inn had delightfully cozy and clean (albeit small) rooms lovingly furnished with a antiques, very comfortable beds, a great screened porch with rocking chairs, very comfortable common... more

I am rating our two-day stay at the Big Moose Inn "above average" for one reason: the restaurant, which is EXCELLENT!! (see below) We stayed at the Antique Inn for 2 nights. Reasonably clean, but very over priced for the quality of the accommodations. Next to the main inn and across the driveway from the rafting outfitters, so was a... more
