We stayed two nights in room 216, which looked out onto the waterfront. From the other pictures that previous guests have posted, it should be clear that staying on the upper floors is preferable as the view is a bit better, but our view certainly wasn't bad. The hotel is very conveniently located on the eastern edge of the waterfront... more

Hi - I am staying here with my son tonight. The plusses are it is right near the Nova Scotia Ferry, within walking distance of the old port, and a 20 minute walk to the Portland Museum of Art, Victoria House, and Longfellow house. I paid for this with points (cost as much as a really nice hotel in NYC... more

Nice property in a GREAT location. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. We had a very nice corner room, king bed with a view of the street and the harbor. Location is right on Commercial Street. What more can you ask for. Only gripe was no choice but valet parking for $15 a day, but it is right at the... more

I used my Hilton points to book a night stay during Memorial Weekend. Our room was not ready when we arrived at 5:00 pm. The hotel gave us a walking map of the port to walk around....no real apology nor compensation for this incovenience. The rooms were standard Hilton type - drabby furniture and old fashioned colors. The beds were... more

Our room was not ready at the 3:00 check in time. The front desk told us house keeping had not staffed correctly for the weekend and were not use to vacationers and the number of people staying in the hotel so they were behind schedule. He was very casual about the inconvenience and sent us off to do something while... more

Located in downtown Portland, this Hilton Garden Inn is in a great location, within walking distance of shops, restaurants, the Portland Museum of Art, Shipyard Brewing, and East End Beach. We didn't even rent a car until we decided to go to the Portland Head Light. Walking is the best way to explore this charming city . . . breakfast... more

We decided to take a last minute trip to up to Portland and I booked the hotel online through Hilton's website, one day in advance. I got a room with a King bed and requested a view of Casco Bay. Upon arrival (1/2 hour prior to the 4pm published check-in) we were greeted by the valet who directed up to... more

Great downtown location, but if you have kids and the pool experience is important, you don't want to go here. The pool is small, cramped, 5 feet deep, extra chilly. Not a place you hang out in. My 3 year old got a rash coming out of the pool! It is a salty/ green eco pool. more

We were favorably impressed by the Hilton at the Waterfront - room had two large beds, fridge, coffeemaker, microwave, neutrogena products. Would stay there again in a heartbeat - just don't expect to get much help from the front desk. They had never heard of a local business that I wanted to visit, and then when they located the address,... more

If you're looking for a hotel in Downtown Portland that is near the waterfront, the Hilton Garden Inn is a really great choice. The hotel is right near everything, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The bartender is a peach of a guy - very communicative and friendly without overdoing it. Prices at the hotel could be a... more
