We arrived approx 7pm after flying in from the Uk and it was very easy to find - only 10 minutes from Portland Airport. Our room - number 802 - was on the eighth floor and when we opened the door there were huge windows showing the whole of the bay lit up. We were immediately refreshed! Our room had... more

I was in town for a business meeting and stayed 2 nights at this Holiday Inn. The location of the is close enough to walk to all the downtown town attractions however it is not by the bay. It is near the bay. A room overlooking the bay would have been very nice. I have stayed in Portland a number... more

The hotel was nice, clean, and comfortable. The problem, though, was that we arrived late in the evening and needed to catch an early ferry the next morning. There was no parking spaces left in the underground lot, so we parked next to the hotel van right outside the hotel entrance. I asked the desk clerk if that was OK,... more

Upon arriving at the hotel, we thought ' great, the place looks nice and we're only here one night anyway'. That was one night too long for me. Got to the room (late since we were traveling) and thought it was ok upon arrival. Then I went to the bathroom and there were hairs in the tub/shower, stains on the... more

Just came back from a famiy trip to Maine with the last four days at the Holiday Inn Portland by the Bay. Had five of us in a room with two double beds. Had a good stay there but it's just a slightly above average hotel for the price (I paid $156) - Short walk to downtown or Old Port.... more

Great service right from check-in. Could not give us a non-smoking room but smoking room was fine, no smell. They apologized even though I made the reservation with the understanding that I was getting a smoking room. Offered to refresh it again if I wished. (Not necessary and we are sensitive to smoke,) Got good advice on restaurants and museums... more

This is a solidy choice in Portland - it's about a 10-15 minute walk to the Old Port area. My husband and I had a "bay view" room on the top floor of the hotel and it was a lovely view. The rooms are standard and the staff at the desk was mildly friendly. However, the wait staff at the... more
