This is an excellent B&B with friendly owners (including the dog), delicious breakfast, beautiful view, easy walk to good restaurants, very close to the ferry. It's a great place to stay -- I recommend it highly. more

I have never stayed at a B&B before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. When we entered the 3 story inn we were greeted by the friendly Zack, a springer spaniel. Our room was elegantly furnished; it made me feel like I was back home in my own room when I was a kid. We had a private bathroom,... more

I travel to Rockland often and have now stayed at the Granite Inn three times. The transformation of this inn in the last three years since Ed and Joan took over has been such a pleasure to watch. Unlike most other restored historic buildings, this B&B has a fabulous modern feel to it. The decor is distinctively modern, with a... more

The major draw of Rockland, ME is the wonderful Farnsworth Museum, and nearby Olson Farm, where Andrew Wyeth painted Christina's World. The experience of walking the grassy slopes that Wyeth recreated in tempura is unparalleled. This B and B is conveniently located within walking distance to the quaint historic downtown area and Farnsworth, and is across the street from ferry... more

I've stayed at the Old Granite Inn twice in the past year and both times have been a completely satisfying experience. The owners are very hospitable, their resident Springer Spaniel charming, the rooms are comfortable and charming, and the breakfast is fantastic. I will stay here every time I pass through Rockland. more

Hi, I had the pleasure of staying at the 'Old Granite Inn' for several weeks whilst preparing my yacht for a Transatlantic voyage in a nearby boatyard. I 'shopped around' extensively online and considered staying in nearby Camden amongst other places, how glad i am that i chose Rockland and can report that the experience far exceeded my expectations in... more

Based on a recommendation by the J&E Riggin (local Windjammer Schooner) upon which we were about to embark, we spent our last two nights ashore with Ed and Joan Hantz at the Old Granite Inn (and their lovable pooch, Zach). Ed and Joan could not have been more hospitable, allowing us to upgrade our room to one (#7) with a... more

I am a frequent visitor to Rockland as it is on my way to a vacation home we own. I am thrilled to have the Old Granite Inn reinvented by new owners ED and Joan who live on the premises. In addition there is Zach, their warm and fuzzy greeter who is actually a well-behaved English Springer Spaniel. The new... more

I've stayed at the Old Granite Inn twice, once last year (2007) and again this year. On both occasions I found the OGI to be hospitable, clean, and comfortable. Joan and Ed are great hosts and the breakfasts they serve are good reason alone to stay there. The Inn is in town, across the street from the ferry, and within... more

This is very convenient to the ferry--right across the street. It is noisy, however. The hotel itself has an eclectic style. We found it expensive for the quality of the room. The breakfast was decent but not exceptional and there were no choices which made it hard for our dietary concerns. It is an easy walk into town where there... more
