Being my first time at a Bed & Breakfast, I was a little tentative. My concerns were allayed when I walked into the Old Granite Inn. What a wonderful home it was with its large front room overlooking the harbor and roomy dinning area where we all shared breakfast each morning. Our room was well appointed with a comfortable king... How can you begin to put into words all the delights we exprienbced at the Granite Inn? Beautifully decorated with attention to the old and new, we felt right at home there, the inviting living rooms offered a chance to read peacefully, pondering the past. Our Dad and my sisters were in Rockland for a 50 year reunion. Ed and... More

A last minute weekend getaway to Rockland, Maine, proved to be both restorative and invigorating, thanks to the wonderful haven and hosts at the Old Granite Inn. As previous reviews attest, the inn is a visual delight, a wonderful, eclectic mix of old and new, with lots of interesting art and some fantastic blooming plants throughout the rooms and hallways.... We stayed for one night and had a wonderful time! The Inn is clean and comfortable, with warm touches throughout. We stayed in the suite and it was spacious yet cozy. It has a whirlpool tub and an electric fireplace that was perfect after a cold night on the town. The hosts are friendly but not overbearing. The breakfast was... More

This was our second time staying at the Old Granite Inn, and it just keeps getting better! On a mid-March weekend, we had our pick of rooms, and chose the suite (rooms 8 and 9). The room was beautifully decorated and very restful. Comfortable bed, spacious, and impeccably clean. Wonderful photographs on the walls. The breakfast was spectacular.... More food... More

We stayed at The Granite Inn on the heels of a blizzard, and while we found plenty to do around Rockland we would have been content just staying in at The Granite Inn. Comfortable room, classy decor and sumptuous breakfast. Just perfect!

The Granite Inn was the only place we found that would happily accept our dog. We choose room # 3 because it was on the quiet street side. The Inn is tastefully decorated, including our room. Ed and Joan were excellent hosts. Ed made daily creations such as stuffed french toast, lemon scones hot from the oven, sausages, fruit salad,... More

Great setting across from the ferry....Ed and Joan made everything perfect. We started our stay with a beautiful birthday greeting for my husband and a box of locally made delicious chocolates! Very accommodating to any needs. Breakfast offered many choices and they were all delicious and presented beautifully. Room was designed for a calm and peaceful experience. Also loved having... More

The inn was easy to deal with on line, the welcome and room were elegant, the surroundings were handsomely designed, worthy of study. The breakfasts were different every day, with fresh fruits, fine cooked treats and local roasted coffee. The cornmeal pancakes one morning were textured, tender and savory.. Another morning offered individual eggs benedict beautifully and literally tastfully garnished.... More

We enjoyed our first stay so much that we came back. In addition to the tasty breakfasts, friendly innkeepers, spotlessly clean rooms, and pleasant decor, the inn is dog-friendly, making it a wonderful alternative to chain hotels. Rockland is a convenient location for exploring the islands, Camden, and other towns along the coast. We look forward to returning.
