Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beautiful restaurant.
Great, friendly staff. There was only one other couple in the empty restaurant. Our food, including bread and butter took 30 to 40 minutes to arrive. Waiter was apologetic but still..
crab cakes were huge- everything else was okay. The butter was great though!

Popped in here after some hiking in Acadia. The area was pretty dead, but the bartender and server here were really friendly. They whipped up a custom drink for me and shot the breeze with us. Didn't eat here, but it seems like it's pretty much your only option in this part of the island. Worth a visit.

Started eating at the Lighthouse 30 yrs ago. Judith was the owner then and has retired and her daughter has taken it over. The food was still as good as my memory recalled. The seafood Newburg was excellent although the pastry may have been over done a tad. The potatoes were slightly overdone but flavorful. The vegetables were done perfectly. The service started a bit slow but it is the off season and things are more laid back. It appeared that there were more locals there which is nice to see. The decor is along the seafaring type. However the change in the type of dinner music was not pleasing to me. I do not care for country western and it could have been lowered a touch in volume.

Our family (2 adults and 2 kids) stayed for 5 nights in the “Gold Room” last week. We were not expecting fancy, nor did we need it. What we needed was a clean, comfortable room with convenient access to Acadia and a beach. The Lighthouse Inn delivers on all of these. OH- and does so with a very friendly staff. The room itself was a bit dated, but we could tell that ahead of time from the pictures. That said, the AC worked, the shower had strong pressure and ample hot water, and the beds were comfortable. The TV was new and had full cable options. And the place is located a short, barefoot walk from Seal Harbor beach. The only thing in between the Inn and the beach is a nice park- perfect for tossing a baseball with my 11 year-old son. If you want fancy, this is not your place. For us it was perfect. We will be back!

We werensure what to expect upon arriving at the Lighthouse Inn for dinner. The dining room has a lovely old fashioned feeling complete with a piano player. We stepped out onto the deck to a table with the most breathtaking view with waves breaking just a few feet away. The food was quite good. My cashew crusted haddock was delicious and my husband's steak was perfectly cooked to a juicy medium rare. We shared a decadent dessert, the perfect ending to a perfect meal.

This was one of the suggestions from our hotel manager in Northeast Harbor. We were on our way to hike around in the National park and it was right on the way. We decided to try this place as opposed to going into busy Bar Harbor, and so very glad we did! We both got omelets and we both agreed that it was probably the best omelet we've EVER had! It quant and cute, and coffee is served in all different kinds of cups. Loved it!!!! Wish we had time to try it for dinner......

Stopped at the Lighthouse Restaurant for a quick lunch after visiting Acadia National Park. Wanted a lobster roll. They were out of lobster? It was before noon for an early lunch on a Thursday. It’s August, in Maine. It’s the height of tourist season. How does a restaurant run out of lobster in Maine?

We stayed in the pink room for 2 nights during our honeymoon in 2007. Some staff had been staying in the room adjoined to us. We found out they had been spying on us thru keyhole. We called the cops, got our $ back and left. DONT STAY THERE!!!!! I have the police report to prove this is real.

Our party of four ordered four sandwiches, two haddock, one veggie, and one crabmeat. All come with potato chips. We had to wait to receive menus because the 8 top next to us had them all. (might be a good idea to print some more copies ...this is for lunch service!) After ordering we waited, waited, waited some more, kept waiting, waited a long time, until it became ridiculous. While we waited our waitress appeared every 15 minutes or so to say that our sandwiches were just about ready. After an hour we'd had enough, paid for our ice tea and walked out. Our waitress, quite unfriendly at this point, actually told us that "part of our order was started." If you can't serve a simple lunch you shouldn't be in the restaurant business. I can't comment on the food because it never came. Forget this place.

We ate lunch at the Lighthouse Inn yesterday. There was only one other group seated when we arrived but the service was poor. The waitress asked inappropriate questions and kept making remarks about how my partner and I were interacting. She didn't know the menu and asked how I wanted my meal prepared then brought it out a different way. Then she proceeded to fill and refill my partner's water glass 4-5 times and never once asked or offered to fill mine. I'm sorry I tipped her, she didn't deserve it. The food was average at best. Don't waste your time, there are far better places to eat on the Island.
