The three of us (with one 17yr old) stayed 3 nights over 4th of July. The house dates back to mid 1860's, very charming, lots of character. We enjoyed our stay alot, yes the traffic was a bit much but after a full day biking at Acadia (a must do!!) we were tired and had a good nights sleep. The... more
With so many nice B&Bs and inns in the Acadia, we only ended up at Penury because we reserved at the last minute. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Yes, the house is charming and it is right in the center of Southwest Harbor, but there are so many negatives to this place that I am not sure... more
The first thing to note is that the "private" bathrooms are not actually connected to the bedrooms. The elderly couple provides a sheet with an African print for you to walk in to and from the bathroom, and you'll be lucky to avoid bumping into one of them or another guest in the hallway. Penury Hall is a lovely B&B right in the heart of Southwest Harbor. The owners are an older couple who have lived on the island for many years and have a lot of fantastic information for travelers.
