We had a wonderful stay here! The inn is admittedly run-down and the rooms are basic to say the least. But we felt that the owner, Annalise, more than made up for it with her warm hospitality. We stayed for five nights and felt very looked after. Annalise was glad to provide us with wine or tea at the end... more

Early this month my wife and I stayed at the Surry Inn for 5 nights and we are looking forward to another 5-night stay next month. Every summer for many years we have come to hear the Summer Chamber Music Festival in Blue Hill. The wonderful, world-class chamber music at these Kneisel Hall concerts is only fifteen minutes away from... more

We were delighted with our recent stay at the Surry Inn. The Inn is rustic and the view is wonderful, especially during sunset. The owners are accommodating and hospitable. Dinner at the Surry Inn is a delight (typically 4 courses) and is the main attraction! The rooms are adequate and very clean (contrary to what other reviewer indicate). We have... more

My wife and I have stayed at the Surry Inn on several occasions--with my mother-in-law from Australia once. It is in a delightful location on a bay, and is clean, pleasant, and, yes, restful. It is handy for the various attractions of the Maine coast, including Bar Harbor, without the hype and price of those attractions. The food is excellent--particularly... more

I love this place and have returned several times (a 900-mile drive each way) with great enthusiasm. The proprietors are great--helpful and welcoming--and the food is wonderful. The situation is beautiful and the charges are reasonable. I am astonished by people whining about the supposed shortcomings of the Surry Inn. Perhaps they should look for a Holiday Inn. This place... more

I just returned home from staying 3 nights at The Surry Inn. When I arrived I noticed a musty odor. My room was upstairs and had no lock on the door. There was a lock on the bathroom door that didn't work. They offered to put a latch on the door, and did, but it didn't work. When the doorknob... more

We were here from 8/4 to 8/7, and also on our honeymoon 21 years ago. The plant and interior are pretty much the same as in 1987. It's still a very old building, with merely old additions, average sized rooms, small bathrooms, and unremarkable furnishings. No TV, no alarm clock, no free shampoo. No locks on the doors--you want privacy,... more

The Surry Inn should be renamed the Sorry Inn-- "sorry the place is so run down and sorry we will not return your deposit even though this place is nothing like we advertise". After driving several hours to get to this run down old house in the middle of nowhere, we were shocked to find a place in desperate need... more

While this property is in need of some touch up painting it was clean and comfortable. The location is beautiful with a view of the bay and no noise from the road.Dinner was excellent and reasonable with a large selection of moderately priced wine by the glass and friendly and competent service more

The Surry Inn doesn’t lack of atmosphere, and the food is good; unfortunately though, they say that the breakfast is fm 8 to 9.15 a.m., but even if you sit at 8 you won’t have your breakfast until 9....really too long a wait for a simple breakfast. Moreover its quite pricy if you consider the condition of the bathroom (our... more
