My sister and I stayed at the Open Hearth on our recent trip to Bar Harbor. We loved the cute little cottages. The only negative thing is that the heater is either on or off...so we were warm and shut it off when we went to bed, but were cold in the morning. It didn't take long to warm the... More

We stayed in cabin no° 7, which used to be an antique shop some years ago; it is quite large, and the space is very well used, it is in fact divided in 4 areas, a small kitchen area with everything you need to cook, a couch with a coffee table and a flat tv on the wall, a "dining... More

Yammie! We loved their muffins. Every morning the owners serve different kind of muffins. About 5 or 6 different taste. Rest of breakfast is economic continental. We stayed in cabin nr. 1. We liked those nice cozy cottages. You get what you expect. You havent booked the Hilton! Everything was in good working order. Double beds. Good firm matrass. Fast... More

We used the Inn as a base to explore Acadia National Park. The location for that is very convenient. We stayed in one of the cottages which was very cute. The owners are very nice and provide good information on hikes, etc. There is a very inviting hot tub for a cool evening. Breakfast consisted of a wonderful variety of... More

Excellent place to stay. Very charming. Wonderful continental breakfast with fresh homemade muffins. Owner was extremely helpful telling us great places to see while we were there. Would go back again without hesitation. More

After pouring over reviews and being so disappointed (and shocked) by hotel prices in Bar Harbor, I settled on the Open Hearth Inn. 2 nights by myself (woman alone) and 2 more nights with my husband who had just ridden his bicycle 5000 miles across the US! Cabins were very cute and we loved the Knotty Pine walls and the... More

Let me start off by saying we're not usually B&B kind of people - we prefer the modern conveniences and furnishings of hotels - but we were looking for a place near Bar Harbor on very short notice and Open Hearth was available and not too pricy. After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to give it a... More

So I read both good and bad reviews of this inn. I have nothing bad to say. We stayed in one of the cottages. It was cute and just what I imagined a cottage to be. Outside we had a bbq and some chairs to sit. The jacquzzi was a great touch. Clean and big - it was great after... More

When driving up to the Open Hearth Inn, it doesn't seem like a great place to stay. There are small cottages that look like they need a paint job and the decor certainly isn't great, but the inn keepers are friendly, it is close to Bar Harbor, it is clean, and it was pretty cheap. This is definitely bare bones,... More
