Stayed at the Hotel Gunter one night during a trip through western Maryland and West Virginia. The hotel is nothing if not unique. We stayed here because of the location and were glad we did. Read the other reviews for info on the decor and quirks. It is all true. Dolls, victorian wallpaper, bizarrely incongruous 'museums' and collections. There is... More

We loved this bizarre hotel experience passing through Frostburgh, MD on purpose. We made our reservation en route to Virginia from Michigan in August. It was already chilly-cool in this lovely mountain town. Gunter is in the downtown/mainstreet area. The hotel is a brick front edwardian-style building. It has a period-theme lobby with sad furniture. The sweet and attentive front... More

The hotel is just great. uper clean, great customer services and good price. The hotel common areas and the rooms were all immaculate and decorated in very good taste. We were able to extended our stay fortunately to May 27. They are also very helpful for bicyclists. Very grateful for their super services.

Go back in time with this weird, strange, but good hotel in Frostburg. The room was really small with a barely functioning AC unit and the hotel had an odd vibe to it, but it was worth the hassles to stay in a neat place like this. The staff was very friendly but I didn't have any problems to test... More

We had stayed at a chain hotel the last time we were in Frostburg, but decided to take a chance on the Gunter this time. Easy to make a reservation over the phone, although their website is a bit off-putting without online reservation access or updated/larger facilities photos. Check-in was easy and the front desk clerk was very friendly and... More

The Gunter is an old fascinating hotel loaded with antique furnishings, and people! There are 19 apts in addition to the hotel rooms. It appears the residents are quite elderly. our rooms 308 and 309 were adjoining, quiet , down a long hall on the third floor. Beds were okay, could use updated mattresses... but the decor was ...... fanciful!... More

This is a beautiful hotel that feels like home. We stayed this past weekend and had a beautiful pink and white room. It was so clean, not a speck of dust. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. This cannot be compaired with the chain hotel/motels in the area. It is beautifully decorated and puts you in a festive mood... More

My husband surprised me with a weekend getaway, and chose the Failinger Hotel Gunter knowing how much I love Victorian Inns and furnishings. I loved it from the first second that I entered into the basement doorway. It was creepy, but in a wonderful way that made it seem as if I was walking into an enchanted manor house of... More

Charming Main Street USA hotel. Feels like you stepped back in time.Rooms are clean and decorated shabby chic.Doesn't have all the big hotel extras. They however do offer a very nice light breakfast for guests. If you don't want to eat there they are conveniently located across from The Princess diner which is another step back in time. Reasonably priced... More
